Gnc supplements? For weight loss

I am in desperate need of losing some weight. I gained twenty pounds in two months. I plan on joining a local gym and starting a healthier diet. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with weight loss supplements from stores like Gnc or the vitamin shoppe. I just need something to get me started. My doctor prescribed me an amphetamine medication but I decided not to take it because I don't like to take narcotic meds. Any experience and feedback is welcomed.

    black, bloody, or tarry stools;
    coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds;
    swelling or rapid weight gain;
    urinating less than usual or not at all;
    nausea, upper stomach pain,..."

Note the swelling or rapid weight gain....

I read that weight gain is not a known side effect of celebrex

I have used GNC products. There lean shakes and active vitamins along with CLR will help reduce you.

Weight gain is a side effect of Celebrex.  Ask your doctor if there's something else you can take instead.  

Be careful taking liproxenol and other diet pills with Celebrex as there could be horrible adverse effects.  You must be very careful mixing diet pills and drugs.

You need to get the blood tests I mentioned above before you start taking any supplements.

You'll also need to alter your diet, if you are stress eating.  Deaths in the family can be very stressful.  You should find ways to occupy your time, other than eating.  Go for a walk every chance you get; that gives you a chance to reflect on a lot of things.

Try liproxenol. I've tried it and it helped so much in my weight loss. Didn't experience any side effects either.

Even if gorging on food reAlly? I have had a couple close deaths in my family and have been stress eating a lot the past couple of months I also did just start Celebrex.

It's not normal to gain that much weight in so short a time, even if you're gorging yourself on food. My first recommendation is make a visit to your primary care physician to run some simple blood tests to make sure your thyroid is functioning properly of if you may have developed hypothyroidism, which is an under active thyroid.  Hypothyroidism is the main cause of sudden, excessive weight gain.  The tests you need to ask for are Free T3 and Free T4, which are actual thyroid hormones and TSH which is a pituitary hormone that stimulates the thyroid to produce thyroid hormones.  Many doctors will only want to order the TSH - insist on the Free T3 and Free T4, as well.  

You should also ask for thyroid antibody tests, Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPOab) and Thyroglobulin Antibodies (TgAb), as these will determine that you could possibly have an autoimmune thyroid disease called Hashimoto's Thyroiditis.  Hashimoto's is the number one cause of hypothyroidism in the developed world and symptoms, such as your sudden weight gain, can often show up before actual thyroid labs indicate a problem.

You should also get checked for insulin resistance, which another cause for weight gain, though the gain isn't typically so sudden as yours has been and as is seen with hypothyroidism.

You should also look at any medications you might be taking, especially, if there are any you just started, as weight gain is a side effect of many medications.  I started taking one med a little over a year ago and within days, I'd gained over 10 lbs... I didn't know that was one of the side effects.  I've since changed to a different med and lost that 10 lbs. Now I'm working on getting thyroid levels right, so I can lose the weight I gained when my thyroid malfunctioned 6 yrs ago (30 lb in 3 months).

Once you've ruled out medical/medication issues, you can then proceed with your plans to join the gym and start eating a healthy diet.  To be honest, I've tried numerous supplements, mostly from The Vitamin Shoppe, because I don't have a GNC nearby (they both carry the same/similar products) and have yet to find one that works well.  The problem with most pill type supplements is that they aren't meant for long term use and once you stop taking them, you regain the weight.

You're better off with a good, healthy diet that keeps calories at a level that's good for you, along with adequate exercise.  Its' important when starting out that you keep a food diary, because we often don't think we're eating/drinking as much as we are.  There's an excellent food diary here on MH or there are other apps you can use.  Using a pedometer is also a good idea and aim for 10,000 steps/day.

Many people find that replacing one meal/day with a high quality protein shake works well.  There are tons of recipes for the shakes (I can post a few or post a link to some already posted), using a good quality protein powder (whey powder is recommended).  You can then add a 1/2 cup Greek yogurt, almond or coconut milk, regular milk, fruit, chocolate powder, peanut butter, vegetables or other ingredients to taste.  

The shakes didn't work well for me, because, while they fill me up, they don't satisfy my need to have something to chew at mealtime, so I'm left craving something.  It took me a while to figure out what the problem was.
