Goal outfit - anybody have one?

by PMoon, Apr 29, 2009 05:00PM
I was watching the Biggest Loser last night - love that show!!! - anyway, several people tried on their goal weight outfits and could fit into them. I got a kick out of that. Everyone was so happy.

I have clothes that I would like to fit into, but I don't have a specific outfit that is my goal outfit. Wondering if I go buy a cute dress or something if that will motivate me. Because right now, I am having a HARD time in the motivation department.

Does anyone out there have a goal outfit story?

I have several "goal" outfits (clothes that I loved to wear and thanks to Mr. Thyroid, can no longer fit into) in my closet and I find that keeping "thin" clothes is depressing me to the max. I even have brand new shoes, still in the box that I can't wear because when thyroid whacked and weight went UP - my feet got fat right along with the rest of my body.......  I'm a "shoe nut" so having shoes I can't wear is almost as depressing as the clothes I can't wear.

My plan for this weekend is to go through my closet and get rid of everything that doesn't fit me or that I haven't worn in a while.  It's going to be a hard thing to do because I have some almost new jeans (washed once or twice) that I have to get rid of.  And as long as I'm at it, I might as well let the tops that match go too, right??  Got to do it though as I get this really "guilty" feeling every time I open the closet and see all this stuff just hanging there, for now reason, except that *I* can't bear to take it to good will.

Well, here we go folks - the clothes and shoes are leaving my closet.  I'm gonna cry and pray that someday I might be able to go to the store and buy the same size again.

I think the "goal outfit" has to be a personal decision.  If you can do that and not feel guilty about not being able to wear it, then I guess you should go for it, but if there's going to be guilt associated with it, like I have - I'd say don't...

BTW - how would you decide what size to buy?  Right now, I can wear several different sizes depending on the cut.  Just curious.

If you decide to try it, please let me know how this works out for you.

I have some goal jeans that I got from someone a while ago that I use to beable to wear at the end of highschool. Well, I kept them because they are sooo comfy. They are up in my closet just waiting to be worn.
Everyonce and a while I will get them down and try them when I have lose weight and inches and it does help. I just dont do it all the time....every couple weeks, if that!

I really dont have a goal outfit as like Barb said i can fit into several different sizes now. I think honestly what I have is a goal size. My size i want to be is a size 12. I think that would be right for my body. I think my mom says for every 15 lbs you lose you lose a size. So we shall see.

awww Barb! *hugs* dont get down on urself you will wear those shoes someday!!

my goal was pretty much just the small stuff i had in my closet and wasnt wearing regularly! Most of it does fit now after being on and losing my extra weight!
Msn..-Your mom may be right a lil over 15 is about what i have lost and i was able to fit into my smaller jeans which are 1 size smaller than my others!!

Thanks goku -------- I do pretty much get down on myself, then I have to remember that it's not ME causing the problem, it's the health issues, but still makes me sick to have all those clothes hanging in my closet that I can't wear.  Not to mention that my closet is too full anyway and since I can't get rid of the weight, I can't get rid of the "fat" clothes yet.

I'm hangin' on though and still trying.

As far as the size, I would try on something in a bigger size to gage the fit. Then I can just buy it in a size smaller than what I would normally wear and that could be my goal outfit. I used to be able to just go in and buy a brand that I knew in a certain size, but the cut of the pants nowadays - it's awful. I can't do that anymore. There are no pants that fit me anymore!!!

I mean I have a JLo butt and it's so hard with the low rise everything. Nothing comes up over my butt anymore. Trying on clothes is not a fun experience for me. Tops aren't so bad, but the pants. Forget it.

I'm with you - I don't have a JLo butt, but I DO have "thunder thighs", so I often have to buy a larger size in order for them not to be too tight in the thighs.  I don't mind trying on tops either, but pants, yep - I dread that........  Going from a size 6 to a 12 in less than a year and then not being able to get rid of it --------- ugh...... depressing......

I have big and wide hips....by the time I get pants that fit my hips, they hang off my thighs and butt! I am currently in a 13/14, and right now my goal pants are a size 9 :-) They are maroon leather pants (size 9) that I wore to homecoming my freshman year in high school. What is most depressing is that i actually still have them after 9 years lol

My goal dress is a beautiful ballgown that I wore to my friend's 18th birthday party. I tried it on 2 years ago, and it wouldn't fit at all. Now I can just about do it up, but it's still too tight. I'm going to get there!

I've actually got no idea what size it is - it says 9/10 on the label, but that makes no sense to me :S I usually wear a (UK) 16.
