Green Tea for weight loss?

by goatgirl, Mar 21, 2007 12:00AM
I have another question.  I was reading on the internet the other day about 7 reasons why green tea was beneficial to your health.  Among the other health benefits listed, the article said that drinking green tea was helpful to those wanting to lose weight because it helped to boost your metabolism.  I am desperately trying to lose some post-pregnancy weight and am willing to give anything natural and healthy a try.  Has anyone else heard of this?  Does anyone else drink green tea and noticed any weight loss benefit?  I know that drinking green tea alone would not cause me to lose weight, but I wondered if it might help to curb cravings or boost my energy.  Just curious.

Just by personal experience I have my doubts. I was at my heaviest ever after I lived in a country for a few years where I had nothing but green tea daily. It is a wonderful beverage but with my lack of exercise back then it sure did nothing for me. Hope someone else has a more sophisitcated view.

I've also heard that...but I'm not really able to handle caffeine very well, so I don't drink it very often, so I'm not too sure if it works. But it IS very tasty!

The only other thing I drink besides water is unsweetened green tea.  Been doing that for at least 5 years.  Sorry to report, NO weight loss. I know the web touts several green tea products for weight loss but I have serious doubts do my my own experience.

About green tea... I am a regular drinker of green tea... I my 3 sisters as well. We all find it very benefical in weight loss.. However there are many forms of green tea...
I suggest only using a green tea from a natural food store.  It is a bit more pricy and you will definately be cleaned out!!!  But I have noticed more energy and a weigth loss since I have started to drink it.. everyone is different!!

Just a little insight on the green tea. It needs to be a dieter's tea. Three leaf is a good brand.
