HELLO, OUT THERE!!!

Just checking to see where everyone has gone these days.. I know it's getting close to Christmas and everyone is busy, but I'm beginning to feel like the "Lone Ranger" here, as I seem to be the only one responding to posts, etc.

I'm wondering if there is anything special that you are doing to get through the Christmas Season to keep yourself on track; if there's anything you need help with, etc.

*I* have just tomorrow, then 3 1/2 days of next week, then I will be off work for a 2 week Christmas break.  I have a lot of things to get done -- have bought only ONE gift --- plus friends visiting from "up north" for the winter (no, they  have a motor home, so don't stay at my house....lol), house to get cleaned, decorated, etc, some more doctor appointments coming up -- and who knows what else??

Well, since I do have the 2 week Christmas break coming up, I figure that even with all the stuff that needs to be done, there's no way I won't have time to exercise --- no, I absolutely REFUSE to be so busy that I can't spend some time exercising.  I'm hoping that over that 2 week period, I will get back into "the groove" of exercising daily, so that when I go back to work, I will just continue, even though I will have to adjust my schedule.......I'm sorry to say that I know I *can* find the time --- I *don't* because I get up at 3:30 am,  I'm dead tired when I get home and it's easier not to........

I can't tell others that they have to be responsible for what they eat or how much exercise they get, if I won't be responsible for MINE......I don't eat junk food, so I do a really good job of keeping my calories in check --- now, I've got to get with the exercise --- with my thyroid issues, that's the only thing that's going to do it for me....

So, here we go with some "tough love" --- I first have to love myself enough to get tough........I am SO thankful for Elaine1961 for posting the Daily Thoughts -- there have been some recently that have really hit home......so anyway, I *do* love myself enough to want to get myself back into shape and get rid of this weight, so I can get my cholesterol back in line, along with other things.  This isn't me and I don't like it -- hypothyroid or not.........

Accountability -- the responsibility is mine and I'm determined to shoulder it............

Hey wonko --- so good to see you back with us again.......you don't sound like a broken record, you sound like you've been sick, as have Trudie and myself, along with some others.......

Like Trudie, I totally admire your commitment to exercise.  I'm like you, if I don't do it during the day, I'm too tired when I get home from work.  Unfortunately, I only have a 30 minute lunch break, which I often end up working straight through; I think the only thing that saves me is that I have a "physical" job (versus sitting at a desk all day), so I do get a fair amount of exercise........

I am happy to hear, though that you are getting better, even if it is very hard on you - we can only hope that the "good" days become more and the "bad" days become fewer.  It's very unfortunate that you weren't able to take the time to get well before you had to start working full time; that only delays the recovery.

But, *I* have to sound like a broken record because I have to ask if you are keeping tabs on your vitamin (particularly vitamin b12) and thyroid levels -- antibiotics and a lot of other meds can very quickly deplete the body of vitamins AND damage the thyroid so it doesn't produce enough hormone.  Both B12 deficiency and low thyroid production will certainly cause the fatigue you talked about, plus will make weight loss SO much harder -- I have both and I know how you feel; there are a lot of days that I'm not sure I can drive the 20 miles to get home without falling asleep.  I am on both b12 shots AND thyroid med and still have those days.......

I just hope that you continue to improve health wise and will try to join us here as often as you can....

Wonko, I am so impressed at your exercise accomplishments.  I still have not gotten myself to start doing that.  I am so tired and sore that I don't want to but I do know I'll feel better if I do.  Perhaps being off over the holidays will allow me to develop a new habit.  I'm off to see rheumatologist in early January and reexamine my Lupus treatment.  Hope that will help the situation.  My tree is up (pre lit one) and nary a decoration on it for over 2 weeks.  Ugh!!

I'm around, and still too round.  I think I shared here previously that I returned to full time work after 11 months part time due to health.  It's been extremely difficult, as I relapsed shortly after and had to push through quite a bit to keep my status.  I'm so tired by 5 I barely make it to my car, and am often in bed by 7-8 PM!  I'm slowly getting better, but not doing as well as I was a few months ago.

I have managed to exercise, instead of taking a lunch break I go to the gym usually every other day.  I need to do it during the day as I'll be too tired after work.  I try to view it as "part of my job," since I know exercise will help my body get through this.

I also have a lot of deadlines and professional obligations, including my job search for permanent positions.

I haven't been weighing myself enough, and I'm sure that's not a good thing.  While I can get myself to commit to exercise, I still go to food for emotional reasons.  Also with the fatigue being so bad lately, I often feel like the only "fun" I can have is a tasty meal or a treat.  I know this is my pitfall, counting on food to do more than just feed me.

I feel like a broken record here!  I know given my weight it must look like it would be easy for me to lose, but I'm really struggling to not gain.  It's just where I am right now...

Trudie -- I know what you mean about finding the energy to get stuff done.  I'm SO far behind with Christmas stuff this year --- I haven't even decorated my house yet and Christmas is only 12 days away -- if I wait much longer, it won't even be worth getting the decorations out............

Is it time for you to go back and see your doctor to make sure all your thyroid levels and everything are okay?  I know mine are off again -- my pcp insisted on dropping my med and I'm certainly paying for it --- I go back to see my endo this coming Friday and will get my med raised back up again.......hopefully, that will make a world of difference......

I'll be praying that you get some time to rest -- how horrible for things to be so hectic at work just now at the Holidays........

Hi ladies!  Sorry I've been MIA lately.  Just can't handle the heavy duty travelling and load at work lately.  It just takes everything out of me.  Haven't been able to do much for Christmas either and trying to find the energy to get it done.  Thank God there is a date deadline!  Having a really hard time staying on track.  I keep self medicating the stress...

I love your daily thoughts -- some of them really hit home and I've really been doing a lot of thinking and soul searching lately.

Well, I don't always know the answers either, but I think a lot of the weight loss issue is common sense.  If you are eating things that are good for you and getting exercise - well, you SHOULD be able to lose weight, but if you aren't -- well, maybe it's time for a trip to the doctor to look for underlying problems....such as my thyroid issues.

Wow -- you are SO far ahead of me for your Christmas.  I haven't done any of the necessary shopping yet.  Our friends from up north brought us a huge ham that I will bake for Christmas dinner, along with all the other "goodies".  I just found out last night that our daughter and her family most likely will not be able to join us on Christmas Day until later in the evening, so I'll cook Christmas dinner for those of us who are here, then we'll "feast" on left overs for the evening meal.

I don't much like the crowds either, so plan to get as much of my shopping done this weekend as I can.  I'm going to cook all the same things I normally have -- I just will stick with MY smaller portions, as I'm finding that easier than trying to cut out foods that I really enjoy.

My biggest stumbling block is the exercise -- that's what's going to do it for me, whereas you are already implementing that as part of your daily routine.  Yay, Elaine!!!!
