In my opinion, 400-550 calories/day is not enough - your body could be hanging onto the weight in an effort to prevent starvation.
Additionally, with a thyroid condition, your levels must be optimal FOR YOU - not just within the lab's "normal range". Different labs use different reference ranges and some of them actually use outdated ranges....... Another variable is, what tests are being done on your thyroid? If your doctor is ONLY ordering TSH and not the "free thyroid hormones" - your levels might not be "under control"......
I, too, have hypothroid/Hashimoto's and have found that only recently, getting my levels to the point that "optimal for ME" - am I able to begin losing weight and NOT having to starve myself or do a lot of extreme workouts....
Good luck..........
