What would be more important is to show us long-term studies with a large number of participants that concluded that there was a successful way to deal with this problem, that every single person had this problem, that there were no failures -- that would justify the "all."  But of course there are no such studies because this is a relatively new area of research that so far has no practical application.  If you see a nutritionist to lose weight, this isn't what they'll talk about -- they'll talk about diet and exercise.  Peace, LightSeeker, and keep me on my toes!

First of all, nobody can diagnose you over the internet, so don't freak out about the prior post -- we have no idea what's going on with you.  What you don't say is whether your lifestyle, including diet, is different than the rest of your family.  You don't say what you've tried to lose weight.  You don't say how you gained the weight in the first place.  We don't know if you're male or female, heavily muscled or not, or anything else about you.  Any more details?

All obese people have some degree of leptin resistance.
Please familiarize yourselves with this!
"All."  Whenever you see this, LightSeeker, know that you're probably wrong.  People are different, and the theories you read are just that, theories.  They might be true in general or turn out to be dead ends or false leads in years to come upon further study, but in any case they might not apply to a particular individual.  Theories are interesting and useful, but they are not yet known facts that mean anything in current treatment.
And in the meantime, diagnosing someone over the internet knowing nothing about them only frightens them.

You have Leptin Resistance.
Obesity unfortunately comes with Leptin-resistance.
Leptin is a hormone which normally regulates fat.
In your case, the signal that you have enough fat, just does not register and your body instead of burning fat, stores it.
To reverse the resistance, you need to do a few things well!
-Avoid carbohydrates, since they increase triglycerides, which in turn increase leptin-resistance.
-Hit the gym and do some weights and interval training
about 5 days a week.
-Sleep well and try for 8 hours every night.
-Make sure you're eating plenty of quality protein,
-Cut down also on processed foods.
-Include plenty of foods high in soluble fiber.
- Have you thyroid function tested. Ask for Free T3, Free T4 and Reverse T3 thyroid tests. Let me know your results of these 3 tests. Most doctors are not familiar with these!

I hope this helps.
Best wishes,
Niko
