How to find time for exercise ?

So, Hunter will be 6weeks on Friday. I have been back to work now for 4weeks, I work about 30-35hr. A week. My days start about 6:30am and we are out the door at about 7ish, I drive my kids to my babysitters and Im at work at about 9am. I get off about 2-3pm (on mon-tue) go and pick the kids up and we are home at about an hour after I get off. (Wed and Thur. I work late so hubby picks the kids up.) I have Friday off , and work every other Saturdays. Between working, spending time with my kids, house work, I just don’t see were I can add some time in for exercise. How am I to loss weight if I don’t have any time for exercise ? I just started doing WW, so Im hoping this well do it. I want to be a MILF! LOL I know I need to loss a lot , but I would be fine if I could loss 25lbs. How do you guys have/put in time for exercise??

May I suggest you try sleeping in your workout clothes or putting them right next to your bed before you go to sleep.  Set the alarm 15-20 minutes earlier and put it across the room so you can't shut it off.  When the alarm goes off, jump up out of bed and KNOW that you are going to dedicate 10 minutes ... to YOU!!!   You KNOW you deserve 10 minutes and it is indeed caring for you.  It will invigorate you, relieve stress, and leave you with a feeling of well being and a sense of accomplishment.  Make small changes and be consistent with them.  Initially target this 3 x a week and once you've mastered that, you can add more sessions or more minutes.  Remember, you have to take care of you if you are going to be able to take care of your family and work.

Best wishes and please let me know if I can help.  You may want to track your exercise here on MedHelp so you can see your progress and obtain support from others.  YOU, my dear, CAN DO THIS!!!

Good you are asking this question. It had been on my mind since I went back to work after maternity leave SIX years ago... As a single mother without any family close by I hardly ever had an opportunity to follow any structured exercise program, not because I got lazy but due to work, the lack of babysitters and my son`s willingness to spend yet more time in the care of someone else while mom jogs through the forest...

In theory you could probably make some arrangements with your husband to be with your little ones for an hour on the weekend and weave in some exercise or you decide to drop some of that housework you cram into Fridays and exercise instead. In the long run - who cares about a clean house if you are unhappy with the lack of exercise. Those Fridays in your schedule seem to be your main opportunity.

Throughout my couple of years of motherhood and initially two clothing sizes above what I would like, first of all I tried to be active with my son. For example: jogging with stroller or years later sending him on a bike ride while I ran after him for a few miles. I also dragged him to kick-boxing classes 3 times a week at some point - which meant the poor child did not even get home until 9pm and ate his supper while watching me do my jabs and kicks.
What finally works for me is some equipment in the back yard: a jump rope and a punching bag. I am not wasting unnecessary time on driving anywhere, I can more or less watch my son and I can shower at home. Saves a LOT of time. I only like outdoor exercise, whatever the weather, so this is it - except that I get tired ot being stuck in a backyard.... Once you find out what kind of exercise you enjoy, at what time of the day and in which environment, I am sure you will figure out a solution..

If you can only do 20-30 min 3 or 4 times a week of walking or other brisk exercise, that's a great start.

Personally, I make time.  I work 12 hour shifts, 7p to 7a.  Lots of times, I go to work out at the gym at 3pm, and work out til 5:30, shower, eat a little dinner and go to work.  It actually invigorates me.  Sometimes I'll go after work, when I'm dead tired.  I always feel better afterwards.

If its important to you, you'll make the time.  Start with small blocks of time that you can manage easily.  Hopefully, you get so motivated that you will want to devote more time to harder challanges.

Best of luck,
