Right now, I want to say you've made a very important step (and Skailark, aka, TUTU BOY!) mentioned it: You reached out for encouragement! I have yo-yo'd my weight more times than I care to admit, but I seem to be enjoying a MUCH STABLER weight now that I found MH and THIS weight loss community.
So, until more people chime in, hang in there.
The best advice *I* can think of right now is to find YOUR style - what works for YOU. NOT what works for or has worked for others. YOU know YOU!
Go back and read old posts - ones that talk about where we came from, etc. You might find some tips there! OH....and good luck. HANG IN THERE and STAY ACTIVE ON THE FORUM!!!! That's also GOOD ADVICE.
Okay everyone - here goes the broken record again..............
blantonj27, have you checked with your doctor to make sure you don't have medical issues that would cause weight gain or prevent weight loss. There are several conditions that I strongly suggest be checked out if you have a weight loss problem, including, but not limited to: hypothyroidism, insulin resistance and PCOS.
I only bring this up because I've "been there, done that" --- struggling to lose weight only to find that my thyroid had totally "wigged" out on me and no amount of dieting I did was going to help until my thyroid levels got back into balance. I'm still having adjustments made to my meds and have suspended strenuous weight loss efforts until I get the rest of it all figured out.
Now don't get me wrong ---- that doesn't mean that I eat anything and everything I want or as much as I want. I eat healthy, reasonable portions and still get my exercise and do what I need to be doing to be healthy - I'm just trying not to FOCUS so much on it because if I do, it seems all I think about is the next meal and how much I can eat.......
Just consider the possibility, while continuing to take steps to become healthy.
Twehner and Skailark gave some good advice....Of all the ideas on this website, pick some that might work for you and try them - maybe one or two at a time, but if something doesn't work after a reasonable amount of time (few weeks), feel free to try something else.... What's right for me, might not be right for you....
Good luck and stay with us.........
I am pretty much on my last straw. I am at my all time heaviest and I feel like dodo. I have gone to the Dr's and all that and had to get my Hypothyroid under control. With all that taken care of, I have found out that I am now possibly starting pre-menapause, with that in mind, my horomones are wacky and I get depressed (on meds for that too) and find that food is comforting. The more I eat of it the worse I feel (the sweets, carbs, ect...) I am going to get back up on my horse and try this again. No one is going to do this for me...hmmm. So saddle up and join me for a ride of better life. "Let's go girl's" and boys.
Have a great Night
