Let your child, not your mirror, be your motivation! It often takes at LEAST 4 solid weeks of proper diet and exercise before you will see any changes at all, and double that for family and friends to take notice! Focus on eating well and move move move! Fad diets and pills and all of that mess may give you more instant results, but will not help you establish the changes you truly need to make in your life. Lorell9 already shared some great info on eating! Portion control, learning to *stop* eating when you're actually full, and having multiple small meals/snacks throughout the day vs the traditional three big meals will make a huge difference! And remember, you don't have to "exercise" to burn calories.. Stand instead of sitting, dance, maintain good posture, toss that kiddo in the air! Have fun with it and you're far more likely to actually DO it! :)
Congrats on the 3 lbs... that's awesome. I'll be happy to work with you on it anyway... I, too have insulin resistance, as well as hypothyroidism and need some motivation myself, so if you care to work together and keep in touch, I'm game.
I have Pernicious Anemia that was untreated for years (doctors kept telling me I was only depressed), when I really need vitamin B-12 and because I was left deficient for so long I have neuropathy in my feet that often makes exercise very painful.
I have an apt. With my Dr Monday, but I've been exercising 30-40 min daily. And have a phone app that has been keeping track of my calorie intake.ive lost 3 lbs so far, so I'm feeling confident!
It's time for me to be off and head for bed, but if you're really serious about this, I'll be back tomorrow to work with you on it...
You have to calculate the number of calories you need/day for your own body, then go from there. I can help you do that and will help you with exercise and other things, as well.
Thanks for the suggestions! I'm looking for probiotic foods. It's hard cause I'm a "carb addict" . And a picky eater. I'm working really hard though! Not giving up! :)
Try eating 5 to 6 small meals a day, mainly vegetables and lean protein such as talapia salmon chicken and turkey breast also low fat yogurt atleast twice a day and look up probiotic food you can eat as well. Do this for the first couple of weeks and you can start adding other healthy foods but try not to add food like pasta and potatoes for about a month in a half. When you do add make sure it's only a serving size meaning you get to taste not indulge. Drink plenty of water and green tea. Try to stay away from sugary drinks, if you must have a drink try 100 percent juice. Hope this helps.
