Gluten free: I have a friend who has hubby and I over for dinner almot every night who is alergic to gluten so Its always gluten free. Ive lost 30 pounds since Ive been there and I think the gluten free helps. Im thinking about getting a few gluten free cook books and some xantehm gun and all that other stuff you need for yummy gluten free foods. She makes cakes (awesome carrot cake!) pancakes, TONS of stuff you wouldnt think are gluten free. The only down side is you cant just make up recipes, it wont work. and you need a few extra ingredients you wouldnt normally have. Im thinking about starting it for me and so I can have them over for dinner.

Ive done ok this week. No gain so thats good. As I type Im riding my dads stationary bike! :D

You are all doing great!

The food diary is extremely valuable.  In Weight Watchers, we used to say "If you bite it, write it".

Its sooooo very easy to turn a blind eye to the caloric value of what we eat, if we don't have it staring us in the face.  And as Trudie found out, and others have noted, fast food adds up shockingly fast!
And it makes you feel bloated and ill the next day.

Last night at a party, I had just "bites" of this and that, over several hours.  But when I wrote it all down, it looks as though it was EASILY 1400-1500 calories (including alcohol).   I can't really record it in the food tracker, because so much of it was made by other people, and I have NO earthly idea what it was made from.  I can only assume it was all from extremely high fat ingredients (except the dish I made, and the green salad another health conscious gal made).

Today, for recovery, I'm sticking with clear liquids (tea, broth, apple juice, water) until dinner.  If I feel like dinner, I will have some of my spicy chickpea soup.   I just felt blah, heavy, bloated, miserable, headachy, and lethargic.   Now I feel much clearer in my being.

Anyway, just wanted to join your thread.  I'm probably not weighing again until Weds.  I try not to weigh more than once or twice a week.

I know about the fast food shock.  The last time I had a whopper & small fry I almost cried when I put it in the food diary.  This week I ate out more but after the whooper incident I went prepared.  I now know what on the menu of my fav fast food I will allow myself, not that that helps when my boss buys lunch.  If it's free there's no calories right!  I also have an evil co-worked who tries to force feed me cookies.  Well I think the gym saved my butt (or kicked my butt as the case may be) this week.  My kids start school on Monday so life will be more hectic next week.  Hopefully I can keep this up.

TrudieC: I'll keep you in my prayers for the health issues, You really are an inspiration & encouragment to everyone here.

Love and smiles flying your way,
Sunshine

This has been a very bad week for me.  I've been plagued with health issues and as a result have been emotional eating again.  A couple of days I had no energy to cook and ended up eating the KFC my husband brought home!  Man, I didn't realize how high in calories and fat that stuff is until you put it in the food diary!  I'm back at it again and am doing an experiment with gluten free eating for a week.  My husband thinks it might help some of my issues and it can't hurt.  At least I will lose weight without the bread and goodies.  Here's to a much better week!
