Sunday Weigh In

Time does fly when we get older doesn't it?  The end of another week; the end of my spring break -- boo hoo!

I didn't lose a lot of weight, like I thought I was going to -- was hoping to drop at least 2 pounds - but I did get some exercise.  Most of the exercise I got was walking, but I also did a lot of other things too.  Also, most of it wasn't "formal" workouts, but still got the job done!!  I spent a couple of days in my garden(s) doing "clean up/fix up" getting things ready for summer.  Of course, that required a lot of bending, lifting, stretching, along with walking.  Other days I just walked.

I'm only down 0.4 pounds and kind of disappointed with that because even though I didn't do formal workouts, I did get exercise; AND I was careful with my eating.  I only ate chips twice and those were very small helpings with my sandwich at lunch.   I got back my most recent results for my thyroid blood work and the levels are good, plus I feel pretty good, even if a bit tired, so just have to figure that I didn't work hard enough at my weight loss.

Since I've pretty  much had to redefine "normal" for my life now, since my aunt fell before Christmas and requires so much of my time, I'm hoping that once I get back to work I will reestablish a routine again; although I did enjoy not getting up at 3:30 am or going to bed at 7:30 pm.  Going to bed and getting up at more normal times, allowed me to sleep better, without waking up multiple times during the night; that, in turn helped me to feel more rested and energetic.

Anyway. even though I didn't have the success I hoped for this past week, I still went down, if only a little bit. I will continue to work at it.

Okay, that's my story and I'm sticking to it......................lol        How about you?  Let us know how did, whether you lost or gained.  We'll cheer you on and see if there's anything we can do to help you out a bit.

Ready, set.............................go.

Welcome moonpiebaby and kittengamer.  I almost missed your posts because this is an older thread, but I'm happy you decided to join us.

moonpie -- we all have our times when we really "must" eat what and how much we want.  If we deprive ourselves all the time, we will eventually just give up.  My favorite thing is potato chips and if I knew I could *never* have another in my life, I'd probably say "to heck with it - weight loss isn't worth it"..............lol  At any rate, it seems that you've got your mind made up to get back on track, so we'll wish you the best of luck and hope to see you this coming Sunday on our weigh in.

kittengamer -- how wonderful that you lost 6 pounds and your husband, 5.  Are you doing something special that you would like to share with us?  Feel free to start a new thread and tell us what you are doing.  Keep up the good work.

New here & we've set our weigh in day for Tues. My husband lost 5 pound & is now at 203. I lost six pounds & am now down to 236. It is encouraging although I know the first couple weeks are always the biggest weight loss. It will be easier this week I think to know that our new eating habits are helping. =)

hi everyone, ,I'm up again, but only a pound, 156 today. I'm slightly amazed as have not been very good at avoiding treats this week. Need to be more careful from now on. Off to a terrible start, Had training all day at work and it was so tedious I ended up stuffiing all the sweets they give us to keep us alert in the afternoon, then went ouf and had two glasses of wine with a friend, then came home and ate chocolate. Bad, bad, bad bad girl. Good news is I have more energy for sure. Will be more disciplined in the days ahead and hope I can report a loss next week.

love and light to all of you.

Hi everyone, I have gained 90 lbs over the last 3 years, after I have been diagnosed with Panic Attacks. Prozac that finally (after trying numerous other meds)  seemed right and worked for me at the time , also  was my problem for gaining all this weight. I was scared to switch meds.  sooner and just watched myself get bigger and bigger....now I'm switching and hopping to be able to loose the weight again. I am 229 as of today and have a modest goal of 150 lbs. I have lost 1 pound so far and still a long way to go.
At this moment I can not even imagine being as low on the scale as most of you are. I feel a bit overwhelmed.
Good luck to all of you ladies and gents !! :)

Hi Sasha.  I'm happy to hear about your 0.2 lbs down. Down is down!!

Instead of saying your exercise wasn't enough; congratulate yourself that you did it 3 times during the week; then aim for 4 times in the coming week.

You're trying, that's what counts.

Sounds like we are all struggling with our demons here.

Trudie -- I've always been told that exercise helps a lot of types of pain.  I'm happy to hear that working out on the elliptical helps yours.  Do you take calcium and magnesium at all?  I take them both and the magnesium really helps with the aches and pains I get from thyroid issues; maybe it would help your pain too. Hope your cold gets better quickly.

tigerlilly - you are doing so well; I wish you wouldn't be so hard on yourself, although there are things I have trouble with eating just a little bit of too.  I guess we both need to keep working on it -- maybe we'll come up with a solution.

moonpiebaby - Wow - 4 lbs is a lot in one week.  Be careful that you don't lose too fast; that's not good for you either. Keep up the good work with the exercise and eating right.  Great job.

Elaine -- you poor thing. I hope your husband is doing okay now.  Did he have to stay at the hospital or were you able to bring him home?  Don't worry that you didn't get to weigh.  Isn't it strange how we just know when we are going to be up or down?  Please stop being cross with yourself AND stop calling yourself names.  All that does is make you feel even worse and what's done is done; there's no need to punish yourself.

We have a new week beginning and a chance for a whole new start.

Earlier in the week I went way up but have managed to get it down again and for the week am down .2 of a lb.  I've been getting in 5 minute spurts on the eliptical and am amazed that it is actually helping my fibro pain when I do so.  Hoping to be able to increase my exercise and have it impact my weight loss.  Have a cold right now and so happy it is reducing my appetitie!

Well I'm up 0.8 from last week. I was just under my goal line last week and today I'm just over it at 125.4.

I've been exercising my 5 hrs per week but my spring cleaning has almost stopped. I can't seem to find the energy and time to do both. I have fallen far behind and will never get done in time for summer if I don't get it in gear.

Other than that, I overdid it at Easter just like I was hoping not to. I really need to work on this. My mentality is all or nothing and I don't want to live like that. I want to enjoy myself a little and not feel guilty. I only feel guilty because I don't feel in control. My hubby says, "So what if you eat too much, you keep coming down, so, so what?" I told him I want to feel in control of myself and not overdo it. I'm going to keep working on this because I'm the only one who can fix it!

Barb135 -  Your attitude is great and I'm glad you test results came back normal.
