Sweet n low

Does anyone know whether Sweet-n-Low is okay to use for saccharin...on Dr Simeons hcg diet protocol, he says that saccharin or stevia can be used for sweetener...any thoughts!

Stevia is better from a medical standpoint.

That being said, the Sweet-and-Low company is rather unique, and the owner, a very ethical individual, makes an effort to hire ex-convicts and never asks for a resume. Only that they do a days work for a days pay. So I like them.

You will need to take the thyroid med for the rest of your life, as it is replacing what your thyroid would have produced. I still have my thyroid, but it no longer works; I take 2 meds for it.  Best of luck to you.

Thanks so much for the info...I have had thyroid disease for about 10.5 yrs and now have no thyroid and was just told My Thyroid Cancer is in total remission, I still take my thyroid medication every day and I am feeling better now that I have in a very long time.  The hcg diet is very extreme and must be followed to the Tee.  If not done properly you will regain everything you lost and then some, but if followed exactly, people do very well on it, especially if they have learned how to eat properly.  For example before I started the hcg diet I learned how to eat healthier and within 1200-1500 calories and lost 20lbs doing that and exercise, and I did that for several months.  Now that I know how to maintain 1200-1500 calories and what a portion size actually is, I am very confident that I can maintain any  weight loss I have with this hcg diet.  Again you must follow it to the Tee, or you will not be successful in the end.  Thanks so much Barb for responding, God bless!

I agree that Stevia is the better sweetener.  Used to be, you could only buy it in health food stores, but it's now sold in grocery stores as well.  I've read that artificial sweeteners can actually increase your cravings for sweets.

I don't approve of the HCG diet because it's too drastic and I've known of too many people who gain back all the weight as soon as they stop the diet;  but I do deal with thyroid disease.  If I can help you out, please let me know.

Thanks so much, my hubby and I just started on the 3rd day of dr simeons protocol for the hcg diet yesterday so I guess we are on day 4 total...he has lost 5lbs and I have lost 3lbs...so that is good, but I don't have any stevia right now and want to use Sweet-n-Low and just wanted to double check that it was okay! Are either of you on the hcg diet, and do either of you deal with thyroid disease?

Saccarin is the sweetener in Sweet-n-Low, so you're good on that. However, you need to be aware that artificial sweeteners will actually trigger your need to eat sweet things more than regular sugar will. I'm not saying that you shouldn't use Sweet-n-Low, but just be aware.
