Hi everyone,

I am new to this section of the forums. I have some quesions about lifting weights. I am 24 years old and I never lifted weights until now. 1. Is it safe to lift free weights?
                           2. Shoud I lift everday or have some rest time?
                           3. What are some serious injuries that occur?
                           4. Can you become paralyzed from lifting weights(I heard that from a friend)?
                           5. How much should I lift overall?
                           6. I am trying to gain muscle, so is it good to weight lift?

Sorry I know that there are a lot of questions but I would like to know what I getting myself into, so please can someone answer my questions as best as possible. I would greatly apprieciate it. Thank You and I wish everyone nothing but the best.

There is a great forum here on Med Help:

Some of the members here on WL&D might have some of your answers, though.  Check back, and do try the other community.

Personally, with my limited experience, I would say you should have someone show you the proper way to lift, to reduce the chance of muscle or joint injury.  A professional can also help optimize your workouts by working effectively.
-it is good to have a rest day between your workouts, I can tell you that much.

See if you can find a good personal trainer and pay for a couple sessions.  It will be well worth your time.
