Weight loss for husband

by pro728, Jul 08, 2009 08:20PM
30 yrs, 6 '1", nearly 230 lbs and works 12 hours a day. Weight loss is extremely difficult for him as I cannot make him go on a diet or exercise which may zap his energy. I am afraid he is becoming obese. It is very difficult to make him walk everyday and he eats reasonably less for a man of his weight. In the morning he does with a bowl of cereals and the afternoon something veggie from his work place. He eats non-veg twice-thrice a week.

What is a diet that can be effective? And an exercise?

He needs to up his protein without increasing the saturated fats.  If he wants to stay the cereal route he should look for higher protein ones.  It would be great if he could add eggs to his breakfast or even take hard boiled eggs to work.  Ensure he increases his beans and legumes as well.  Is it possible to join a volleyball team or an exercise club that you can go to together?  Or look at getting an eliptical or treadmill for home and put it in front of the TV.  Good luck!  I'm fighting this battle at home too but my husband snacks horribly and drinks too much.

Thanks for your reply. The ideas are superb. But wouldn't egg yolks add up to cholesterol? I was only trying to procastinate buying a jogger because he already is not not using his ab pro king that is rusting! I am away from him at the moment. So I shall ask him to eat more legumes and increase the protein intake. I have already started calling him early in the morn to ensure that he gets some exercise than cuddling in the bed.

Many are considering eggs to be safe.  If he has a cholesterol problem then he should consult his doctor or a nutrionist.  Alternatively he could have scrambled egg substitute.
