I don't participate in online forums very often , but need the help.
I have Graves disease and I had RAI on April 9 2008.
I have gained 20 lbs. since becoming hypothyroid.  I am presently on 112mcg of Synthroid and still experiencing hypo symptoms, including additional weight gain.

Hi!  I had TT November 08.  I battled weight previously; however, since TT with subsequent lowering of thyroxine from 150mcg to 88mcg, I just cannot keep the scales from soaring.  It is very depressing.  I am staying active, but I really WANT TO LOOSE WEIGHT.  I am so looking forward to this.  wandy07

Here I am! I was diagnosed 1 1/2 years ago as having Grave's disease with a hyperactive thyroid. I am "in remission" currently of the hyperactivity, but my endocrinologist told me at my last appointment 3 weeks ago: "You need to follow a low carb diet FOR LIFE"  So here I am!

In spite of a hyperactive thyroid, I am overweight and need to lose! I've gotten some good ideas, etc. from online searching and a friend who also has Grave's with hyperthyroidism.  But I always need MORE MORE MORE info!!

I presently am on synthroid and Cytomel(which I take 3 time daily). I have been put on insulin to try to regulate my weigh as well. This I stopped taking as it made me soooo sick. I weigh 155 lbs and am 5'1 two years ago I weighed 100 lbs.  get very depressed to look at myself. I also have been put on lasix as I carry so much water wieght. I can gain 10lbs in one day. I excercise all the time. My thyroid will not let me lose:(

I am posting on this thread first!  I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis.  Am still working on my dosages to treat or to normalize.  My weight will fluctuate up to 10 pounds in a two week period when I move into HYPO zone.  It is crazy.  I work out 5 days a week and eat mainly vegetarian.  My family and friends notice the up and down of my weight.  I am 5'3", so there isn't much room for 10 to 20 extra pounds!  Anyway, thanks for forming this I look forward to reading and joining in.

Hi all,
I was told I have Hashimotos thyroiditis...no meds. Just had another U/S this AM because 6 months ago I had one that showed nodules. It all depends on this one what they do next. In the meantime I've gained over 20lbs since spring!!! Not acceptable.

Thanks for opening up this opportunity!

I had a patial thyroidectomy in '07 and now on Synthroid (the other side never worked again),  which I have found makes gaining weight easier than ever.

After a Synthroid med adjustment on 5/15/08 (which renders me more hypo than hyper), all of a sudden 10lbs crept in there which seemed overnight if you ask me and I was stunned by it!

My first goal is to get off the 10lbs gained and then readress the add'l 25lbs which snuck in there during 2005 in a sudden gain w/o warning .. we don't have answers why the 25lbs appeared within 6 mos, but hindsight is 20/20 as I move fwd.  What I do know is that it has stayed!

I look forward to being part of the thyroid team here on WL&D ... WAY TO GO!

Let's spread the word.

Hiya!

I had a total thyroidectomy on 8/4/08 and prior to that, I was on PTU to get everything under control for the operation. . .needless to say I put on about 35 pounds (plus I was overweight to start with). . .it's been a tough battle to drop weight post surgery.
I'm looking forward to working with all of you!

Be Well!
