I can't bring a ball I thought about it. The area where i sit is not the biggest area and some one sits behind me not much room between us.
I took my yoga ball to work and used it instead of my chair. I would do little movements all day long to work on my abs and core. I still use it at home. The only thing is.... one day a girl who also used her ball at work got laid off and it was the sadest thing ever to watch her carry a box out and kick her ball down the hall to the elevator. Well maybe it was a little said I wasn't her biggest fan ;-)
Well I work sitting in a row not much room to move around. I do walk at both breaks for 10 mins each and about 30 minutes at lunch 3-4 times a week.
i work at a computer most of the day doing peoples family history, while im sitting i do my pelvic floor exercises,no one even notices. im not sure if they help with weight loss but they help with bladder control, which most people need help with as they get older.
i like the idea of ankle weights and you can also get wrist ones.
Do you know what an exercise tube is? It's a round tube with handles on both ends. If you don't constantly need both hands, you can step on the middle of the tube and do bicep curls, tricep extensions, shoulder presses. JUST MAKE SURE YOU DO BOTH SIDES EVENLY!!!
You can also bring the tube behind your chest and do chest presses.
Play around with it. You can do zillions of exercises with it from a chair. I taught seniors at the Y and 90% of the class is done from a chair. You can do a lot! You can also buy some dumbbells to keep at work and work your upper body.
Sit-ups, too, can be done in a chair! Keep your abs in and your back flat. It takes some practice to isolate your abs and NOT use your neck to raise yourself, but I taught seniors to do this. The other way to work abs from a chair is to sit back in the chair, once again with your back straight as a board and your bottom toward the edge of the chair. Slowly and with control, raise your legs and lower them. Do not drop them. CONTROL.
Just don't over-do any of it. If you work shoulders one day, do arms the next. Abs can safely be worked every day, isn't THAT good news?
I was tied to a phone years ago - I used to talk on the phone while standing? Can you try that? Use a whole lot more muscle standing. I even got so bored I walked in place.
Otherwise, can you bring in the kind of weights that wrap around your ankles and try lifts throughout the day?
I don't like sitting all day. It's hard to keep the weight down in a sedentary job.
Oh man i feel for ya i have worked in enough call centers!! You are brave if you can do it it always got to me after a while! You can stand up and down in you chair do some reps thats exercise and you can walk around during your lunch break too!!
