Get a complete lipid panel test. I found out I have APOE 3/4 genotype and causes my hifh cholesterol and weight gain. I need to work out 5 days per week and 3 must be high intensity cardio and 2 must be weight lifting. I also have to eat vegan foods.
I was doing it all wrong... I was weightlifting 4 times per week, eating lean meat and tons of coconut oil. I kept getting fatter and fatter. Find out your genotype and eat a diet that goes well with your type.
What daily recommended allowance of calories are you referring to? We all need our own specific number of calories, based on our age, height and weight. If you haven't calculated your own needs, you may be eating, either, too few or too many calories.
Of course, we know what happens if we eat too many, but, too often, we don't realize that eating too few can be just as detrimental. If you take in too few calories, your metabolism slows down as your body tries to conserves existing fat stores.
The other thing I might suggest is that you have your doctor run some simple blood tests to make sure you don't have an underlying medical issue that's making it difficult/impossible for you to lose weight. Hypothyroidism and insulin resistance are the 2 that come to mind first.
