does anyone out there know the potential dangers (if any) of taking alli when you are not exactly "overweight"...everytime i research alli it stresses that you MUST BE overweight....i would like to lose at least 15 lbs.  no i am not overweight according to the BMI scale but i would like to lose 50% more weight than diet and exercise alone (which is what alli says it does)...why should i have to be overweight to do so?

Hi, is am new to this forum...

I began Alli in July of 2007.  At the start I was 160 lbs at 5 ft 7, I think that technically I was below the BMI limit for starting Alli but I wanted to try.  I had hit a plateau with WW, I was down from 192.  By November I was down to 125.  I had no "Alli-oops", the oily stools are supposed to happen, otherwise you are not consuming enough fat.  I started off very cautious in the beginning, taking in too little fat and did not get the oil but I didn't have the weight loss either.  My husband is now on it and has done very well.

Now I do know a couple people that have not had the same luck as me!

Hey I've heard nothing but bad stuff about Alli. Check out dietblogtalk.com for other people's reviews of a bunch of products. VERY helpful!! Good Luck!

Its a less potent version of Xenical, I have never tried it or Xenical because it doesnothing in my opinion to help a person it just helps you excrete extra fat through your stools. If you want to lose weight just take your daily supplements and do a minimum of 30-60 minutes cardio a day. I don't recommend any weight loss supplements, they are all temporary solutions to weight loss, the best thing is eating healthy and exercising.

thanks for the comment....you are not the first person who has told me that alli did nothing for them...the stuff is expensive and i am leary about buying it but it feels like i have been having a harder time than usual losing weight and it is appealing to try ANYTHING that "promises" to help.  however i DO NOT want to worry about oily stolls and uncontrollable bowel movements or whatever...
another option i was considering is weight watchers....any ideas...thanks!!

I am not exactly what  you want to call overweight either. But, again, same as you, am not exactly  happy with my self/weight. I took the Alli pill last year and it did nothing for me but give me oily loose stools, which is a side effect to the pill and I did not loose any weight what so ever. I am average 125-128 and 5foot4 and it did not hurt me, but it did not help me either. Good Luck
