calorie intake

Hi everyone I'm trying to lose some weight to set a good example to my daughter and have a 22 /21 bmi. I'm 5'2, weigh 130 but want to get down to 119 within a reasonable amount of time say mid july but i have no idea if taking 1200 calories a day is too much or just right ? Any advice would be great thanks !

I'm more active than you are, but whenever my doctor calculates my calorie needs, she puts it in as sedentary.  I changed yours to lightly active, which is walking regularly and staying active at home.

In order to get to 119 by mid July, your calorie intake should be around 1350 calories.  That's losing weight at the rate of 0.5-2 lbs, which is considered safe weight loss.

Thank you ! I wouldn't say I had a sedentary lifestyle spend all of my time looking after a 7 month old ! Plus i walk for an hour twice a week and walk for 20 mins at least 4 times a week. Though my motivation is disappearing today i'm so hungry.

I did a quite calculation and if you stay with 1200 calories/day you should weight 119 by July 23.  This was calculated using sedentary as your activity level, so if that's not correct, it can be recalculated.  Sedentary is if one has an office/desk job, watch a lot of TV or sit at the computer a lot at home and/or don't exercise.

If you exercise or have an active job, you'll burn more calories.

Make sure you implement a healthy diet and exercise at least 30 min/day for at least 3 days/week.  This can be in the form of a brisk walk, yoga, dance or whatever activity you enjoy and will stick with.
