diet for shift pattern work

i am a 23 year female that has recently started to eat more healthier and exercise more but i am finding my work shift patterns hard to deal with. some days i will work 2-9 where i usually eat lunch before i go, have a break where i will have a sandwich or fruit but when i get home (usually later than 9) i am staving and need to eat something else. then some days i will do 6am to 2 and i have no energy that early in the morning (i have tried a good breakfast and green tea) then other days it will be 4-9 or 8-4.
i just really need some advice on how i can managed my diet around the shifts all the while looking after my fiance's diet as he has fibromyalgia

i really appreciate any help and advice you can give us, thank you

I know how you feel, i work nights one week then i am off the next so it is hard to get on a good eating schedule. One week i am eating dinner when i get up and breakfast when i am going to bed, and the opposite the next. The way i lost 30 lbs last year was portion control and exercised 5 days a week, and i ate anything i wanted good luck maybe i need to do that again i need to lose a lot of weight!

Has your fiance had his thyroid tested?  Fibromyalgia is a set of symptoms for which there is no explanation; the symptoms are pretty much the same as those of hypothyroidim, including fatigue, weight gain/inability to lose, muscle/joint aches/pain, plus a lot more.  I'd recommend that he get TSH, Free T3 and Free T4 tested.

A good breakfast can include a whole grain cereal, toast and fruit; oatmeal and fruit, eggs, turkey bacon, whole grain toast; yogurt with fruit - there are a ton of various combinations - basically, anything you feel like eating can be eaten for breakfast.

thanks for the comments guys, really helps :) well at the moment my fiance just has what i have but we need to get him more energy and loose weight too with gentle exercises.
when you say good breakfast is that like whole grain cereal or toast etc?
i also really need to work on the water too, i believe that part of my fatigue is dehydration

thanks again :)

Great advice by Barb135. Also drink 8-10 glasses of water through out day. Replace few glasses with green tea.

With a schedule like that, I can imagine how hard it would be to establish a good eating pattern.

Breakfast really IS the most important meal of the day, so no matter what your work schedule is, you should try to eat a good breakfast. You might also find it advantageous to eat more smaller meals throughout the day than trying to stick with 3 meals/day.  Make sure that each meal contains plenty of lean protein and fiber to keep you feeling fuller longer. Opt for whole grain breads, rather than white bread for sandwiches.

What type of diet is your fiance on for fibromyalgia?
