What you need to keep in mind is miracles don't happen over night. It's overwhelming and frustrating and depressing to not see any changes, but change happens slowly.

Keep the stress down by only weighing yourself once a week. Weight can fluctuate dramatically depending on the time of day, what you're wearing, and even bowel movements. Try to weigh yourself at the same time every week wearing about the same amount of clothing. It's also a good idea to measure yourself monthly because doing your exercise routine you are bound to gain some muscle. That may mean some weight gain or no weight loss- but you will see a difference in inches/cm.

That being said, maybe your diet isn't for you. What you need isn't a crash diet- but a whole new way of eating. Aka, you can't just say I'll cut out all carbs for 6 months. Those kind of diets are usually followed by rebound weight gain so, in my opinion, they don't work. Try to keep a good healthy diet full of lots of vegetables, fruits, lean protein, low fat/non fat dairy, and whole grains. Make sure you're drinking plenty of water and having lots of fiber. Try to eat 4-5 times a day- so never skip a meal and try to add a low calorie snack in between meals. (I prefer fruits, but nuts, low fat yogurt, boiled egg, or veggies could be a way to go.) Also it might be a good idea to count out how many calories you're averaging in a day. If you eat too little, your body stores and can gain. If you eat too much, obviously you won't loose anything.

As far as your exercise goes- try to work out at least 30 minutes for 5-6 days a week. If you're already doing that, maybe boost it up to 1 hour. Keep in mind your body needs both muscle strengthening and cardio work out so try to mix it up a bit.

If you are feeling abandoned by your friends, perhaps you can ask them to join you at the gym. It's easy to feel disconnected to skinner friends but when it comes down to it I can't think of a single one of my friends who wouldn't benefit by some activity or say no if they thought they could help support me. Real friends want to see a happy, healthy you and will do as much as they can to help support you. All you need to do is ask.

Finally I have to ask- what caused the weight gain? There are a lot of potential medical things such as an under active thyroid that can cause rapid weight gain. Although, things like quitting smoking and having a baby are known to do it too. If you feel that this weight came on for no good reason I suggest talking to your doctor. Ask him to test you for Free T3 and T4 test as well as the standard TSH as they tend to be more reliable at telling you what your thyroid is doing.

Good luck!
