By the way, I found out I was under-eating and my body was storing fat instead of burning it. That is why it is important to eat within a healthy caloric range.

First, you need to make sure you're not under-eating or over-eating. Drinking milk and eating yogurt and cottage cheese are very good for you!

You also need to workout and do weight-training every other day. You can get some handweights at Walmart or Target for just a few bucks. Weight-training is what will help you tremendously.

I started charting my food at spark people and it shows me, based on my age, weight, height, how many calories I need to get everyday. So I enter my foods everyday and try to stay in range. I also use the 30-Day Shred and other workouts.

There's so much you can do at home! Don't give up and be consistent. You will see results.

You can check out exercise videos online.  There are a lot of routines you can do.  One of the website I mentioned earlier even asks what exercise equipment you have available.

I don't understand about not doing anything because you look like a dork.  Who's going to see you?  And who cares what you look like - you are trying to do something to make yourself healthier and in the long run, happier and more comfortable with yourself.

My hubby used to make rude comments to me when I was exercising so I felt self conscious too (yes, I looked like a dork & felt like I was going to throw every muscle I had out of place).  I got to the point where I would only exercise when he wasn't home or was outside, but then it seemed that I never got any time at home alone, so I finally told him that he was not allowed to come into the room when I was exercising; then eventually, I let him come into the room, but he isn't allowed to speak unless it's about something else!!  Now, he tells me how good I'm doing.  And yes, I still look like a dork!!

Ok - there's my secret.

Be good to yourself and don't be afraid.  If you have children, maybe you can get them involved and everyone can have fun.
Good luck.

Calm, calm, calm!!  You just joined us, so it's not time to panic or give up yet.  Why do you want to cut out milk, cheese, etc?  Your body needs the protein, vitamins, calcium, etc that you get from dairy.  How about trying the low fat/no fat varieties?

I'm not sure how many pounds you are trying to lose?  Have you calculated the number of calories you need to eat each day and come up with a plan?  There are some excellent web sites that can help you with that (spark people and live strong are 2).  They each also have a place where you can keep a food journal to track your daily calories and the nutritonal value (amount of protein, fat, fiber, carbs, etc).

It's not good to cut out a whole food group from your diet - your body needs them all.  Just watch your portion sizes.  Try eating more protein and fiber.  I find that they fill me up faster and because they take longer for the body to break down, they will help keep you feeling fuller longer.

Crunches? Yes, I believe they do work, but you need other exercises besides that.  If you can't get outside, try going online and check out some of the exercise routines.  Spark people has a lot, so does live strong and if you do a search for exercises, I'm sure you will come up with a lot of other web sites from which you can get ideas for exercises,  It will help to do different things.  You can also get inexpensive exercise dvd's and some cable channels have an entire exercise channel.

Losing weight takes planning, work and dedication.  My first recommendation is to check out a couple of web sites and try to come up with an eating plan, then work on the exercise routine.  Organize your eating plan to include several (5-6) small meals/snacks per day - that way your blood sugar will maintain stability and you will be able to keep your hunger in check a lot easier.

I'm counting on you to hang in here with us, so don't jumping ship just yet.  OK?
