struggling to lose weight

Hi I am new to this forum and i wanted some advice.
I have been on and off on diets and exersice for the past couple of years and i dont know whats wrong with but i cant seen to stay on it because i find that it does not work fast enough for me so i get discouraged and just give up.
I have decided now that i really need to lose the weight. I am 5,7' and weigh around 185lbs. What i need is a great diet and exercise program that i can follow easily and one that will work for me.
Can anyone out there help me please?

Thank you so much for that, i needed it.

I have made up my mind to start walking from Monday and this time i will not be so anxious to get results. I will take it one day at a time.

The hardest thing for me is sticking to my program. But with help from people like you i know i can do it.

Good luck also in your endeavours.

Welcome!!!

It's great your taking the steps you need in order to start losing weight. I use to be like you. I would start a diet, didn't see results and then I would quit! Now I've been on my diet since 9/14/08 and along with eating right and some fitness (mostly walking) I've lost almost 60lbs.

I first started just by watching what I was eating. It helped allot, but wasn't everything. I use to drink soda and juices with excess sugar in it and didn't even realize that i was doing it so often. Now I stay away from all soda (diet occasionally) and drink only water, seltzer, green tea or fresh iced tea (no sugar). I started falling off my diet little about 2 weeks ago. So i revamped it in now eating 5 small  meals a day. I have a journal on my profile with some food ideas. Here's the link to it:

It's really helped me so far. Plus you can play around with it, so it matches the foods you like. If your not big on working out, then try walking for about 30 minutes a day. It really works. I had a slump in my plan last year, and a friend on here suggested I take up walking. Well, it worked. The pounds started coming off and I was happy again.

You just have to keep in mind that weight loss is not an easy thing. You can't have the weight come off overnight, because lets face it...we didn't gain this weight overnight either! Take it slow, 1 pound at a time and go from there. Also it might be helpful to join a site like thedailyplate.com to keep track of the food you eat. Which really helps. I do that on here as a private journal for myself to know what I'm eating. Also, set small goals for yourself. For example, try setting a goal of losing 10% of your body weight instead of a larger number. Your 185lbs now, your 10% would be 19lbs. Try it out.

I wish you all the luck in this journey. I know it's not easy, but everybody on here is in it for the ride and again welcome aboard!!

(((HUGS)))
