Hey quana23 :) I just joined this site too!
I am similar to you because for me food is a great thing to turn to when I'm depressed or even just bored.
These are somethings that I try to do before I eat something:
- Ask myself 'Am I really hungry? When did I last eat?' If I ate recently I sometimes have a glass of water to make me feel like I'm consuming something! :p
- What do I feel? If I am depressed I might write my thoughts down, tell someone, watch something funny on youtube, listen to a cool song... whatever!
- Often I need to distract myself, so I plan more things in my day or organise activities to do with friends. The busier I am the less I feel like eating for comfort, and then I don't feel like food at all because I have other things to do.
I think diets are only a quick fix, which may work but only temporarily. A healthy weight for me is 60kg, but I got to 85kg in 2012. It was tricky but I now weigh 70kg. Do your very best, don't expect to lose weight in the first few months, I think it takes time for your body to get into gear. Aim to lose weight for the long term not just for a few months time. Set a realistic goal :) I hope to be close to 60kg by next Christmas.
If you eat too much of something you shouldn't, don't throw in the towel and give up. Just because you ate two chocolate bars, doesn't mean you are doomed and you should eat a third! Eat your favourite fruit and vegies as much as possible. I like beans and lentils as a healthy protein and brown rice as a filling carb. Don't starve yourself!
I hope some of this helps a little.
Good luck! You really can do it :D
Same with me! I'd suggest distracting yourself when you feel like this! Go for a walk out a jog or even a swim? Anything to take your mind off the way you are feeling and off food! Xx
