Depression and Eating

I am having a "down" episode at the moment, and cannot be bothered with my weight loss.  I always eat too much when depressed, but it doesn't really help.

I think many of us with depression have eating problems. When ever I'm feeling really depressed and or anxious I can not eat. I agree with the above poster. Your doing well on your meds so try to hang in there and hopefully this will be a very short depressive episode.

Try not to stress over weight loss plan.  I gained a lb the first week ... just thinking about committment did it!!

I'm a card carrying comfort- food eater...and will never change.  Like you, however, I don't like being way over the weight I think I should be.

There are wardrobe issues for me and you as well.  I will never forget watching my brother in law cart off several bags of  my small size clothes...many were very expensive things I'd purchased to make myself feel good..lol.  Well...memories of another time...

Eating when we are down is just what we do.  Can you pinpoint a reason?  Or is it a general malaise?

My weekend was spent almost entirely cooped up in my apt with Diego...too tired and anxious to move.  Then, today, I drove again...geting lots of errands done.  (I wore the same top I had slept in with a scarf added to make it look like a daytime top..lol).

What I am saying, in a roundabout way, is the down times come...we get on to the next day or week and can work on goals we have set for ourselves once more.

Eating doesn't dispell depressed episodes.  But who wants to torture themselves with raw veggies when a nice sandwich can fill us much better?

Hope you are feeling better soon...try not to be harsh with yourself.  Effexor works well for you...so hold on to that victory!  Don't let an imagined pressure...getting into a certain dress for wedding..pull you off course.
