Rapid Weight Gain - 10lbs per mos

I've been gaining weight at an average of 10lbs a week for about the last 5 mos.  All the weight seems to be in my belly.  I literally look like I am 6 mos pregnant (strangers congratulate me all the time).  I eat less than 800 cals  a day - no exaggeration.  I have no appetite.  On another note, 5 years ago I had liposuction done on my abs and hips.

I have always had a consistent weight of 125 lbs,  I'm 5'8" and now I weigh a 170 lbs. I've had an ultra sound of my abdomen and my uterus, no masses, fibros, endometriosis , ovaries are good.  There was no fluid in my ab cavity.  I also had an endoscopy.  They did find a polyop with atypical cells.  It has been removed and I am waiting for the report to come back..  MY GI did not think it was related to the weight gain.

I contribute to the "Sudden weight gain, not pregnant" forum on this site.  I'm 47.  I am not peri- pre- or post - menopausal.  I have hypothyroid that is under control with medications. The doc's thought I would loose some weight - with the thyroid evened out - nope just gained more weight around my tummy.

One other symptom is a fever of 98.6 to 100.0 for to and a half months.  My normal temp is 97.4.  Others on the forum don't seem to have the fever.

I keep a detailed health journal, temp, weight, food, symptoms,  and meds.

Could you help me with clues to putting this puzzle together?

First question is have you heard of this kind of weight gain?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Rapid weight gain like this seems unlikely to be related to changes in diet and activity unless there were extremes in both that would likely be aware of - it seems like there might be a medical cause.  You don't mention whether you have edema - fluid retention can definitely cause rapid weight gain and has many causes that you can explore with your doctor.  Fever is an abnormal sign as well - I definitely recommend you get it checked out!  Thanks for posting!

Thanks for your quick response. My doc has already ruled out edema.  I'm seeing an endocronoligist  tomorrow.  I'll talk to him about the fever.

Thanks for your help.
