work related exercise

I am a waitress and am on my feet for an average of 6 hours a day. I am trying to loose weight and so I am tracking my diet and exercise. I put down everyday that I use my treadmill for 30 mins but could I not count some of my time at work as "walking". How does that work? Any suggestions??

Thank you very much for your advice and suggestion. I will give it a try. It will be interesting to see just how many steps I do take while I am at work. I am guessing I will be shocked.

One idea would be a to get a pedometer - that way you can log your daily steps and get a better sense of exactly how much exercise you are getting.  You can get a cheap one, or if you're interested in more of an investment, there are some cool devices out there like the Fitbit which also help you integrate everything on a website that you can track easily.
