Am i normal?

by red dingoes, Jun 30, 2006 12:00AM
ive been told that a female needs 2000 calories a day to be healthy but i know that i can live on 700 calories a day and be fine with that. ive never been much of a food person and can go all day without eating.
im worried that i am not eating enough but cant seem to put weight on and find it hard to eat a lot during the day. is there anything i can do without making myself sick by eating more than i would normally and could this be due to an underlying illness?

Maybe you should try something like Hospital Strength Sustagen. This is used alot for people who don't seem to be able to eat much. Its made into a milk shake and could be used at lunchtime. You can also buy pre-mixed tetra packs at supermarkets and Chemists.

My Dr told me just the other day that I shouldn't go below 2000 cal a day.  I use to hear don't go above 1200 a cal.  Maybe at the 2000 has something to due with my age and the pending menapause, midlife stuff, plus my bones are already twisting from the arthitis.  At 700 cal a day you aren't providing your body enough nutrients to survive a healthy elderly life assuming that you are young.  Not just cal. but the calicum, fat, protein and all the other stuff that your bones need to have, believe me I am really regreting not taking better care of myself while younger.  The pain of arthitis is miserable.  I would look into supplements like the above mention or your Dr could suggest something for you, or even going to a dietician for a consult might help.
