Banital compared to phentermine

by Shanda3966, Apr 13, 2006 12:00AM
After taking phentermine for almost 2 months I still have not lost much weight. I heard an ad for banital on the radio and am wondering if I should switch to it or stay on the phentermine for another couple of months to see if will work better. I know that you shouldn't take the banital if you have diabetes, are allergic to shellfish, or are pregnant or nursing; I am none of these. Also I do not have high blood pressure or cholesterol. So should I try the banital or not?

With the Phentermine, how many calories a day are you eating?  If you have lowered your calories, you HAVE to lose weight.  MAybe you should write down what you eat for a day or two and see if you are still overeating.  The "Phen." should be removing your appetite so you don't overeat and therefore the weight loss.  Did you get them from a doctor?  It is time to ask the doctor why this is happening.  I have been on this same appetite suppessant since April 4 and it is working.  I have lost 8 lbs in 2 weeks.  I cannot expect more than that.  I am sure some weeks will be slower than that.  Hang in there.  You are doing the right thing to get the excess weight off.  I wish you the best. Keep on keepin' on!  CarolinaGal in Raleigh

On a normal day I only eat one meal and that is dinner. I calculated one of my normal meals to be arround 450 calories. Throughout the day I only allow myself one glass of milk, one glass of juice, and one coke(if I have any) or one glass of tea. The rest is water. However, about once a week I eat lunch with my mother so this raises my calorie intake. I also have 2 small children so I am constantly chasing after them so I know I am getting enough exercise. I just don't think I was meant to lose weight. If anyone else has any ideas please tell me.

You are not eating enough.  Your body thinks it's starving.  You should not drop below 1500 calories a day.  You need to eat five or six( small )meals a day.  That means eat every two to three hours.  This keeps your metabolism working and not sluggish.  You should average about 2 lbs. per week weight loss with phentermine. You need to eat the right foods and drink plenty of water to prevent constipation.  I started out at 192lbs and now weigh 139 lbs.  Excercise helps, too.  But I  have yet to get into a routine.  I also take vitamin B-12 shots which  help to speed up your metabolism and give you energy. I have gone from a sz.14/16 to a sz. 6/8  and still losing. I am only 5" 1'.  Don't give up !
