Concern on cancer and hcg

by niuyorican, Feb 19, 2007 12:00AM
Hi, i have a question. I'm a breast cancer survivor and have joined a weight loss program that includes hcg injections. After researching info. in the internet i learned that hcg is a hormone used for fertility. Since my dr. always told me that my cancerous tumors fed from my hormones my concern is developing cancer from this injections. I took tamoxifen back in 1998 (which i believed is a hormone blocker) but am not taking any after my second episode in 2005. Any information on this matter will be appreciated. Thanks.

If concerned talk with your cancer dr and ask his advise. If you can't then look into a good eating plan and join a gym. This will also help you to loose weight.

Good luck

You need to speak with your Oncologist as soon as possible.  Please be sure to tell him or her exactly what you are taking!  Together you and your doctor can decide if the HCG injections are appropriate for you.

I have read that there is some risk of cancer involved, particularly ovarian. I read once on here that it actually helped prevent breast cancer but like I said that was just on here, there was nothing to back it up. Anyway, I believe it is only a very low risk and I have been willing to take that risk as compared to the health risks involved with remaining obese. But if you have had cancer before there might be a lot higher of a risk.

These ladies are definitely right; speak with a doctor immediately to see how you need to proceed. Best of luck.

I thank you for your comments. I'll call my doctor and will keep you posted for future reference. Be blessed.

Hi,
I was wondering where you are getting your hCG injections.  I am looking for a Dr. who will prescribe them or a clinic where I can get them.
Thanks!

I am looking for a place to receive hCG treatment. Where are you receiving yours? Thanks.

We can not post that information on here. You need to go online and do research on hcg/weightloss, and see if a clinic comes up in your area. Do not just research hcg because you will get fertility clinics.

I ALSO HAD BREAST CANCER IN 2000.

YOU HAD A RELAPSE IN 2005 IN THE SAME BREAST? OR THE OTHER?

I ALSO WAS LOOKING TO HCG.  WHAT HAVE YOU HEARD SO FAR GOOD?  OR NO GOOD FOR US?

DID YOU DO CHEMO?

HCG will not cause cancer, but will agitate certain types of hormonal cancers (breast cancer included) you also would not want to take HCG if you have gout.

I'm going to a MD in Indiana that is a Certified Bariatric Specialist for my hcg program... she told me that there is a VERY slim chance of developing ovarian tumors with hcg injections and that they require their patients to have annual exams (as we should anyway) and if you experience any of a list of symptoms to be examined right away.  She said they personally have never had any of their patients develop them, but that it is listed as a possible side effect of usage in the medicinal documents associated with hcg injections.

It's not stopping me, I'm just going to have my exams as I should and pay close attention to what my body tells me.  I suffer with PCOS so I have to watch for ovarian cysts anyway so it's nothing new to pay attention to twinges or symptoms.

Although, like they said, it's a VERY slim chance (their words not mine) of developing ovarian tumors, I think it's important to be completely informed...

I just got back from the Dr and getting my first injection.  I asked her about the cancer issue and she said that in her research, she's seen mention of prostrate or testicular cancer but unless I have a testicle I don't know about, it shouldn't be an issue as long as I watch for ovarian symptoms.  I did tell her that my ex-husband said I have some BIG ONES but that I didn't think they were literal.  LOL

Where are you located in Indiana?  Close to what large city, I will look and see if she's close or has an office close if you like... I'm about 35 miles northeast of Indy, close to Muncie.

If there is even a small chance of getting Breast or ovarien cancer Dont chance it. Eating health and exercising. would be my choice.
