HCG is a hormone that rises in parallel with the thickening of the uterine wall supporting a implanted embryo.

I'd be concerned that it could decrease fertililty, but that's speculative

hCG has been used as a treatment to increase or help fertility. It does not decrease fertility. It is not supposed to affect birth control, but I haven't heard any proof or cases of it affecting it one way or the other.

hCG is used most often as a treatment for infertility.  Basically, it stimulates release/production of eggs.  Pregnancy is a definite possibility, which is why most consents require or request you have some sort of birth control.  BC pill should work to prevent pregnancy, even when taking hCg.  You very well could have a positive pregnancy test.  Dr. Simeons speaks about this in Pounds and Inches
