I want to say I am sorry ahead of time if this is long. I want to let you all know the whole story because it seems like all of you know what you are talking about. I am new to the weight loss forum. I am 23 and I weigh 225 pds I am 5'2.
I have a friend who was 5'3" and 260 pounds. She lose and has kept most of it off by a simple method.
She does not touch soda.
She does not eat after supper.
She eats lots of healthy food and indulges in treats occassionally.
She exercises 3-5 times a week.
I know you can do this. Make health not weight loss your goal. I know it is hard with work and kids. I actually am now getting up at 5:30 to go to the gym. Still hate every moment of it, but my energy level is getting so much better.
Start off by simplySimply sleep walking 30 minutes per day. You only need to get your heart rate up to about 120 to be burning fat, and that is a nice brisk walk.
If you can, add some weight training. And if at all possible work with a trainer. The gym I joined provides one for free. I am losing weight, slowly, but more importantly, my body is changing shape. And maybe my butt won't jiggle in a few months.
Hi - I don't know if you are interested in going the "medication" route, if not the best thing I can suggest is LOTS of water. Especially if you're really eating low calorie healthy meals, this will make you lose a lot of water weight in the first few days. Then that will motivate you, give you energy so you will feel more like exercising, and you will be on your way!
You sound exactly like me before I started. My favorite things were Dr. Pepper and chocolate! I'm sorry to say how long it took me to get serious - I am 36! And what it finally took was a doctor telling me I would probably have diabetes in a few years if I didn't do something now!
So don't let yourself wait that long, if I can do it, you can, too. I can promise you it DOES feel good to see it come off and it does get easier to make healthy choices and deny the "bad stuff" once you make yourself get started!
You said you work 6 days a week; Weight Watchers frozen meals are a great thing to take to work for lunch. Eat lots of lean meats and veggies. If you are interested in meds, let me know and I'll tell you what I'm doing. I really believe in it. I've lost about 40 lbs since June. I wish you all the best!

one last thing, make sure you have a long talk with your doc to clear any exercise regimen.
