I've searched online and everywhere else. I finally talked to a doctor but he doesn't precribe medicine or HCG shots. What kind of doctor should I be looking for who will prescribe me shots or diet pills, etc. Thank you!!!
A doctor who doesn't buy into the diet pill/HCG injection bandwagon is a good doctor in my book.
So by all means, run and find an unethical one who will bilk you of huge amounts of money, risk your health, and laugh all the way to the bank.
There is no shortcut to physical fitness and your ideal weight. Evenually, the pills have to stop, the shots have to stop, and the weight comes back. You will be right back where you started (or worse), and poorer.
The previous post by christie04_returns was completely unnecessary. Everyone on this site would like to lose weight and not one of them needs to be insulted. It is absolutely true that exercise and proper nutrition are keys to attaining and maintaining a proper weight. Everyone knows this. While all of us would like to wake up the day after taking a pill or a shot and be at our goal weight, the reality that hard work is needed, is a well known fact. Weight loss medications are not right for everyone, but can certainly help along the way. This is a site for help, not angry comments from people who so obviously have personal issues they are struggling with, and feel the need to lash out at others.
I second that opinion, uptheladder! It is SOOO not true that the weight will automatically come back when you stop the medications. NOT IF YOU DO WHAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO AND LEARN TO EAT PROPERLY WHILE YOU ARE ON THEM!!! And maintain that healthy lifestyle of diet and exercise after you get off instead of going back to bad habits.
I feel that is what the meds are doing for me, giving me controlControl Control rx and the time to learn the healthy lifestyle and see results so I will be encouraged to stick with it. With diet and exercise alone it was such a terrible battle with my will power - that I always lost - and I never saw results so I would give up. Being on this program has completely changed my life and has been worth every penny. Furthermore, I also believe that any health risk I am taking is minimal compared to the ones that I was taking by remaining obese.
atozgirl - I too saw an ad in the paper then heard of another place just by word of mouth, but I would also recommend you look online at the Association of Bariatric Doctors for a doctor in your area. Good luck!
I live in the tampa area, I found my weight loss doctor by word of mouth. My had several friends who went to this clinic for weight loss including a co-work who lost over 100 lbs. I don't really understand where you are coming from with your comments. FirstFirst progesterone mc10 First progesterone mc5 First-progesterone vgs 100 First-progesterone vgs 200 First-progesterone vgs 25 First-progesterone vgs 400 First-progesterone vgs 50 First-testosterone First-testosterone mc of all I am a type II diabeticDiabetes education Diabetes foot care Diabetic blood circulation in foot Diabetic emergency supplies Diabetic expectorant Diabetic foot care Diabetic hyperglycemic hyperosmolar coma Diabetic ketoacidosis Diabetic nephropathy Diabetic neuropathy Diabetic retinopathy. I have also been overweight all of my life. I have seen a broad range of medical doctors over the years, while they advised me to loose weight, they never give me any appropriate referrals or information to do this other than saying to eat less. Over the last 2 years I have was told by a infectious disease, my pcp and my endocrinologist to have gastric bypass "it would be the only way I would ever lose the weight". My insurance does not cover any form of weight loss programs...even the one sponsored by my wifes employer (she works for the Baycare system in the tampa area.) They also have a rider on her insurance that states if we do pay for out of pocket surgeries, they would not pay for hospital stays should we have complications. Over the past 4 years I saw two local--"top" endocrinolgist in this area. I requested diet pills from them both. One of them told me the diet pills would take away from my "life force" He instead recommended I do yoga and deep breathing exercises. The other endocrinolgist said he did not believe in them and recommended gastric bypass as the only hope for weight loss. My pcp said my blood pressure was too borderline for diet pills. Well I have been going to dr. garcia for about a month. I am down 22 lbs, my blood sugars are normal, my blood pressure has not risen and I feel better than I have in years. So the answer is, medicine, hmo's, insurances have failed to address obesity and we are forced to "become Poorer" in hopes of finding answers to our health problems. By the way, when a person has 200lbs to lose as I do, these cute little diets such as weight watchers and just cutting down and exercising does not work, you need to see results immediately in order to have the staminia to maintain the weight loss efforts. True we have to complete the prescribed program and following the instrucitons after we have lost the weight. It is a life long change.
Why do you have nothing to say, other than a name and address every time? Hmmmmm, either you're a rediculously delirious patient, or you're on the payrol.
I found my clinic easily enough in the yellow pages under "weight management". I called all every one of them and fired off tons of questions, then went to the one I liked best.
I still go, may years later for checkups. I lost 50 pounds 10 years ago, and have kept it off.
What I want to know is, if the poster who feels the need to preach is so perfect and healthy, what is her skinny butt doing in a weight loss forum? Sell it somewhere else.
Exercise...........ugh. I'm too lazy, I'd rather starve.

So please try putting yourself in someone else's shoes before you judge them. If we could all lose weight the simple way we would all be skinny. Some of us need extra help.
