I wish I had more to offer - what I have is commisseration. I've been on Synthroid since Oct last year, supposedly my blood levels are okay (I have Hashi's so they suppress my thyroid) but I've gained 20 pounds since May. I feel so frustrated by this! Like you, I feel I'm not eating so much that I'd gain 20 lbs! I have read that AdrenalAddison’s disease Adrenal gland biopsy Adrenalectomy Catecholamines - blood fatigue can be involved and i'm going to see a new Doctor inJanuary - maybe I'll have more to offer after that! Hang in there.
For many years I was treated for hypothyroidism by a doctor who said everything was okay even though my test results were always at the low end of "normal". I finally changed to a doctor who is more aggressive with her treatment, believing that patients should be in the upper end of the normal range. I am now on a higher dosage of Synthroid and have my thyroid levels checked every 6 months. My weight gain leveled off and now I am working on losing all those extra pounds.
I know how you feel. I have only been diagnosed for around 1 1/2 yrs. now, but I have the constant battle with weight too. They still haven't got my tsh leveled out yet, but the endo I see tells me that hypo DOES NOT cause you to gain weight. I love it when I hear that! But I have tried to limit my calories, walk 1 mile every day and I am down about 15 lbs now. Keep in there, maybe they'll figure something out to help us sometime.
