I am considering using ILOST Clinics for the Lap Band Surgery. I live in the states and am very afraid of flying. Three of the clinics are across the pond one in Switzerland, Beliguim and Italy the last in Mexico. I can drive there, it should take about 3 days but would drive 100 days to avoided a plane. Anyways has anyone had this done or do you know anyone that has. Does anyone know anything about San Jose Hospital in Monterrey, Mexico?
We have no Ins. and was quted a $30.000 price in my state. In Mexico the cost is $10.000 and that covers much, much more than the us cost of $30,000.
Regarding the June 26 posting about Hospital San Jose in Monterrey....I had lap-band surgery there in April, 2006, and besides it being a bad experience,(i can give you more details separately) I found out later from another surgeon that is very reputable in Reynosa, that the band they had placed in me was a very old type band, (non adjustable). In June I had that band removed by the surgeon in Reynosa and a better adjustable band replaced it. My second surgery took nearly 3 hours because the band placed in april had begun to mesh with my stomach. I was shocked when I saw what was removed from my stomach. Through this experience, I learned that many people need help in finding reputable surgeons in mexico, and excellent facilities to help them recover; and have started a referral program to help coordinate these surgeries.
