Hello,
My girlfriend is overweight, she is 5'8, and I guess she would have to be around 200lbs, she never will weigh herself in front of me, anyways.... her Mom is also around 5'6 or 5'7 and she weighs probably a good 300lbs, my girlfriend is also 20 yrs old and she has been working out for like 2 months going to the gym and doing cardio and all kinds of other machine stuff and she try's dietingLosing weight Yo-yo dieting for a littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys while but dont stick with it, but in the time that she does try it she still never loses a pound, its like she never improves, and she got so discouraged because she was going to the gym everyday for like 2 hours and couldnt see any results that she just stopped going. She has tried dexatrim max, zantrax, metabolife and none of them seem to help stop her hunger, and she cant seem to loose any weight. does anyone have any advice? what would be the best weight loss pill/dietary supplement?
Hi there, It is very commendable that you are looking for weight loss advice for your friend. How frustrated she must feel. I have been in the same boat for years now. I am an avid workout queen. I am very disciplined and have run three marathons in the past five years and am run/walking one this June 3rd. I have maintained between 180-210 lbs on my 5 '7 frame for about six years since the birth of my two girls, now almost four and six. I've tried many many approaches but it wasn't until reading Kevin Trudeau's Weight Loss book that I truly understood about why I may struggle with my weight despite 1500 calorie diets, appetite suppressants, etc. It is a complicated multifaceted disease exasberated by a modern convenience driven approach to diet and lifestyle. K T examines the myths about weight loss and points to diet sodas, prescription drugs, processed foods, diet foods and even mercury amalgums and candida overgrowth as just a few of the contributors to the disease of obesityObesity and health Overweight. His approach to the solution is one that commands the most radical of lifestlye changes that will not make anyone merely seeking a pill or a quick fix happy. But I truly believe as I am about to embark on the second phase of his program that his advice, a culmination of years of research from true medical experts(not the FDA) really gives the best diet and lifestyle advice I have found. Encourage you friend to read Kevin Trudeau's, The Weight Loss Cure. God Bless you and keep up the encouragement! Tanja
Phentermine would DEFINITELY help with her hunger. I was a complusive overeater and have no problem sticking to a 5-600 calorie a day diet now on Phentermine. It is absolutely amazing. Went to Wendys with a coworker yesterday and he had a DoubleDouble-tussin dm with cheese (what I would normally have) and a large fry. I happily ate my side salad and diet pepsi. All I could think about looking at it was how greasy it was and it kinda made me sick to my stomach. Amazing as I used to could put down a tripleTriple antibiotic Triple paste Triple paste af Triple sulfa topical Triple tannate pediatric Triple x pediculicide at wendys and now it doesn't even look good anymore.
Aside from that, she may have some health issues, I reccomend she visit a doctor to get checked out and if all is ok, visit a weight loss clinic to get on some Phentermine.
Trudeau's book will help but there's also a great book to help her get her head in the right place, so she'll succeed. Its called The Beck Diet Solution train your brain to think like a thin person by Judith Beck Ph.D I'm just in phase one but I'm finding that the Beck book really helps my mindset. I think it will help your girlfriend stay on track no matter what diet she chooses. The Beck diet solution is not a diet, it works with any diet.
do you think with all the info that i told you that the Doc would prescribe phentermine to my girlfriend, and would her insurance cover it? how much does it cost, with and without insurance? does it really work? what would my girlfriend say that she wanted to make a Doc appointment for, overweight issues or obesiety?
A family physician or general practicioner is most likely not going to perscribe it. Search for a "weight loss clinic" in your area or try and see a doctor (if visits are covered under insurance) and tell him/her about the hunger issues. They will have the concerns about perscribing Phentermine, and that is understandable, but under a doctor's care it shouldn't even be an issue. The weight loss clinic I go to dispenses the phentermine itself, not via a perscription so my insurance doesn't cover it but my flexible spending does. I pay right at about $100 per month. I have more than amde up for that amount by not eating out nearly as much, although sometimes it is unavoidable. But now, I will just have a salad instead.
Now if her hunger is psychological (subconcoius cover-up for emotional issues) then I'm not sure the phentermine would help with that, but a month on it would tell for sure.
If you get a prescription for it, it should be covered by whatever insurance copay you have when you go to fill it at Walgreens or whatever. Shouldn't be more than 15-30 bucks at MOST! Whatever you do, do not order it online. The places I have seen that actually ship charge more than it would cost to just go to a weight loss clinic and get a perscription. Folks here talk about a place in TN for mail order clinic, I am not sure if they prescribe Phentermine or not.

I am only 5"2" and I used to weigh 200 pounds.
It took me approximaitly one year to loose the weight. I got down to 120, and have been for at least one year now. Here is what I did to keep the weight off and loose the weight.
( I have asthma, COPD, Bipolar, and ADD) I wanted to let you know that sometimes medications can cause weight gain!
I took Lithium and Haldol, but switched to Seroquel and Amilify.
I was taking Prozac, but switched to Effexor.
I started taking Aderall for my ADD.
Anyways, I didn't know if that helps, but it did me.
Make sure you medications are not effecting your weight!
1. Walked or jogged one mile a day with a friend. (Take it slow!)
2. Took the herb Bitter Orange(new weight loss herb!)
3. Ate only three solid healthy meals a day. NO SNACKS!
4. Don't even buy fatty foods to be lying around your house awaiting to be consumed!
5. Drink 8 bottles of water a day! (NO SODA!)
6. Don't drink alcohol at all!
7. Make sure you are having at least one bowl movement every two days! (bloating and consipation can lead to wieght gain)
8. Stay as stress free as you can, stress causes weight gain in some people.
9.Replace your meat groups with Tuna!
10. Don't give up! Don't weigh everyday; weigh only once a week!
