PHENTERMINE Anyone?

by beautifullychaotic, Mar 11, 2008 12:26PM
Anyone taking or have taken Phentermine and had a success with it? Can anyone tell me their stories being on it?  I am on 15 mg. And have to check back with the doctor in a month. I am hoping that this helps.

Thanks!

I take 37.5.  I've taken it off and on for years (mostly off.)  It is good.  It is great for energy and appetite suppresion.  Be sure to drink LOTS of water...
You can develop a resistance to it (some people don't) but you can go off it for a while and then start back.
Any other questions.. just ask!

Hi beautifullychaotic,

I am currently taking phentermine 37.5 mg.  So far for me it's been very effective and has worked GREAT!!!  I have been using it for one month now and have lost 20 pounds so far.  I started at 170 pounds and my goal is to get to 125-130 pounds.

But, it's not just the phentermine that's helping me to lose the weight.  I also eat a low fat and low calorie diet.  I work out 5-6 days per week, which includes one hour of cardio each day and weight training every other day.  I try to drink a lot of water too, but sometimes I don't drink as much as I should.  The diet hasn't been hard to follow because I don't have an appetite at all since I started the phentermine.  I actually have to force myself to eat most of the time.  I could easily go all day w/o eating, especially if I'm busy.  Of course that's not healthy, so I'm constantly reminding myself to eat throughout the day.

I get my phentermine from a local weight loss clinic.  There, they are super supportive and have a wonderful program to assist you in losing the weight and keeping it off.

I wish you much luck and success with your phentermine.  Please let me know how you're doing and if you have any questions.

Take care and God bless!!

I know what you mean on the downing lots of water! I def. get dry mouth! So you go on and off on it? They say that you shouldnt do that because of it being addictive.  And that it can cause bad withdraws.

Well so how much weight have you lost in a month? I need to lose 60-80 lbs and I am on it for 6 months. So I am wondering how thats going to work.

No, I don;t really go on and off.. I just have taken it at deifferent point over the last 5 years.  This is my 3rd time.  I have never been addicted to it.  Just maybe felt tired for a day or two when I stopped.
I loose like 7-8 lbs a month.  I make sure to eat at least 1200 cal and exercise.  I don't want to loose fast.
But you can probally loose more than that :)

several years ago I lost a lot of weight on phentermine. I think you only loose 10-20% then it looses its effectivness, I wish I could say it is long standing but it isn't. as soon as you stop the med, the weight comes back and more. it will give u high blood pressure and headachs and lack of sleep. 15 mg is what they call an afternoon booster, at least that is what they gave me. in the morning I took the 37 mg, then no later than 4 pm was the 15 mg. I don't think the 15 mg is enough to do the trick all by itself, I could be wrong, but that is my experience.

They say those are the effects. I have noticed that if I dont take my pill early in the morning then I wont get much sleep. But if I take it as soon as I wake up then I sleep like a baby. They checked my BP and my heart and all of that to make sure that if my BP did go up a little it would be ok. And so far so good. This is my second week on it. And I love it. Except that it seems to be wearing off. The doctor told me that when its time for me to  get off of it that I need to see a dietitian to make sure I dont relapse and the weight doesnt come back on.  He sounded very positive. But I am sure when I see him on a few weeks I will be uped my dose because they say that its not effective after so long and the doses need to be raised.  Thanks!

Wow! Well good luck to you! And congrats on the new Baby!!! This is why I want to lose! I want another child and I know if I were to have one right now I would be in trouble...or at least risking it and I dont want that!  Good luck to you on getting back on it!
