Topamax and weight loss

Has anyone had success with weight loss while using the generic version of Topamax? I'm currently on Lexapro 10mg and have put on some weight. My Dr. put me on the Topamax to counteract the weight gain side effects. I'm just concerned b/c I've read that the generics are different than the name brand. I have been on Topamax for 5 days now and am up to 50mgs and feel nothing, maybe it's too soon.
