Topomax

Hi I'm new to this ... My Dr started me on Topomax (topamax), for weight loss, but I have started the the paper work for lap band, but before the surgery I will need to lose at least 20 pounds. The one thing the scares me is the side effects of Topomax (topamax), is it that bad???? Any info is helpful. Q

hey! Iam bi-polar and the drugs for this invariably cause weight gain so I was prescribed Topomax (topamax). the first period of time I used it (about a year) I did lose 45 pounds. I tried it again about 4 years later with disastrous results. My eyesight changed dramatically within 2 weeks. I required a new contact prescription by the end of 4 weeks. Soooo, if you notice that things seem blurry, not quite as clear, STOP NOW and see your doctor! Sorry to scare you but I wish someone would have warned me. Good luck Queen!

Thanks pjinhp... another question, what is the dosage to see weight loss? When do you start seeing a weight loss??
