Weight loss Surgery Lap Band Or Gastric Bypass

I have done all of my preperation for surgery and now the doctor has suggested that i have lap band instead of gastric bypass I am a severe obese male I weigh 575 lbs and am 5ft 9 tall anyone that has been through this help with thoughts on which one might have a better outcome for someone of my size

I have a co-worker whose wife had the lap band procedure done. So far she is doing fine, are there any questions you would like for me to ask her for you regarding the procedure?

I have only looked into this on the internet and one site reported a 2% fatality rate with the bypas and with the lap bandthe only thing I have read so far is serious infection.
