Why cant I lose weight?

by ebony1984, Jan 19, 2007 12:00AM
I am 5'0" and weigh 100lbs, a year ago I was 19lbs lighter and was suffering from an eating disorder. I now eat roughly 750-800cals a day and exercise for 2.5 hours at the gym five days a week buring 1000 calories in each workout session. This is what I was doing a year ago when I was much lighter but now it just wont work. I dont understand why I cant lose weight.

Has my metabolism slowed down?
I did go out for one meal this week but apart from that been really good-could the meal be the reason I have lost no weight?

I just dont understand and feel terrible, I have no self confidencs and am miserable about the way I look!

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

I am not trying to be cruel, but you still have your eating disorder.  100 pounds is on the low side of a normal.  A 5 pound weight loss puts you underweight.  You need to focus on eating healthy and working out for fitness, not weight loss.  If you still feel the need to get your weight lower, you need to consider talking to a Dr or Counselor - whoever helped you before with your disorder.  I hope all works out for you.

Honey - you are not eating nearly enough food to sustain the working out you are doing. You are fighting a battle with your body & by basically starving yourself.  Your body will go into shutdown mode to survive. It will start holding onto calories because it believes you are starving it.

you need to eat more (around 1200 calories) at spread your meals out through out the day.
