Will doing these excercises help me stay in shape?

I plan on running a mile every morning and doing some 5lb weight excercises on my arms. Will this help me stay in shape?

One mile every morning BEFORE breakfast is a great way to burn
fat and create lean muscle rather than large muscle in your legs.

Make sure that you eat immediately after running, though.
Otherwise you could put your body into starvation mode, when
you start saving calories instead of burning them.

If you want to make the 5lb weights effective for getting in shape,
you should do many repetitions in each lifting set. For example,
when I want to build strength, speed, and fat-burning power in
my arms and upper body, I punch 16 times per set while holding
10lb weights. This really gets my arms in great shape.

Let me know if you need anything else. :)

All the best,

Ian Mason

Yes, I've been running before breakfast and then after a shower I eat. I'll take what you said about the weights in consideration too. Thanks ^_^

I have been struggling with a weight problem for a long time know and I just havent been able to shake it. I can't run very well ( I have to stop like every thirty seconds to catch a breath and i always get really red) I need to loose about 25 lbs overweight, is there any excercise that you can suggest to help me out?

you don't have to run to lose wait. if it's difficult for you now, try speed walking for about 20 - 30 mins in the morning, before you eat breakfast. that should help you lose some of the extra weight. when you start to get your endurance up, then maybe you can try running again.

i agree with that since the trainer at the gym told me that being overweight and having that extra weight poiund down on my feet, knees and hips would do lots of damage. he said you can burn just as many calories walking fast wthiout the pounding on the joints and tissues there causing irreversible dmg.  ever notice athleets always have to have knee surgerys? lol

not saing running is BAD, just saing running is bad when over weight since it puts too musty strain on the bod =)
