b-12 shots

I have heard that B-12 shots help lose weight I am from Canada My Doctor just informed me that I have to get blood work done first and if it shows i need b12 he will get me the shots. but if it doesn't he won't prescribe it for me.. I am 190 and 5ft 4inces feeling so fatique and have trouble getting motivated. Read a lot of good about b12 on this forum but now feel i have reached a dead end again if my blood work says i don't need it; Please help. Wondering if i could just but b12 from a health food store and if it's safe to use even if my b12 count is good. thanks Nancy
