can't lose weight and I'm so aggrevated!!!

by hannah'smom, Jan 10, 2007 12:00AM
Ok I'm 5'8 and weigh 180 pounds and have for 8 months. No gain and no lose either. I've really changed my diet by cutting out sweets and I don't care for pops. I've been going to the gym and have just started back really hard doing 30 minutes on the treadmill and strength training. I have never been this heavy. 2 years ago I had a baby and only gained 10 pounds (144 after birth) then I started gaining for no reason, my dr even tested my hormaones and thyroid all ok. I then weighed 164 and then in Feb found out I was pregnant and m/c in marched and have gained since up to 180. I bought the diet pill fahrenheit but then didn't take them b/c we are ttc does anyone have advice??? i know this is long and Im sorry I just I'm so frustrated.

One  tablespoon of coconut oil each day. Take anytime before 6 PM. Mix with food if desired.

The coconut oil will help regulate the glucocorticoid hormone that is the initial and persistent cause of the weight gain. read my post on my concerns i have maybe you got a pointer for me

PLEASE do not take Topamax while TTC, I don't know about the others mentioned. The B-12 with Lipo  is a great weight loss tool but I don't know if its safe while TTC or not either; you would definitely want to get off it as soon as you found out you were pregnant! Good luck!

I'm sorry, what is TTC? My doctor has put me on Topomax (topamax) for weightloss. not much has happened yet 6 weeks now, 5 pound up and down as usual, but MY MOOD IS GREAT!!!

hey girl! I know, I thought you were gone too! I have definitely not passed you. I went to work full time at the beginning of November and started backsliding. It was so hard to find time to exercise and even worse, I started my old weakness, drinking Dr. Pepper again! Then of course it was "so close to the holidays" I just kind of let it go till that was over. But I did stay on low cal eating and drank some water, just not as much as I should! All in all I gained back a few pounds but now I'm back on track, have lost those and two or three more. I'm still working but in a new job where I don't have to go in till later so I can get the exercise in! My body feels so much better! I'm glad you have done so well! Was it hard over the holidays?

I forgot - do you do hcg or lipo? If you do lipo, there's another forum you can check out, my diet solutions. That's where most of the other girls are now. I go and read the comments but I never have logged on because I do hcg. Anyway, chat later!

Hi, TTC means trying to conceive. I have to take Topamax for seizures and I believe it to be a very serious drug with potentially serious neurological and other side effects. I really don't like it and would certainly not take it if I didn't have to. I can't believe doctors prescribe it just for weight loss. If you have not experienced memory loss, slurred speech, concentration problems, panic attacks, confusion, lack of muscle coordination, and yes even hair loss, count yourself lucky and its probably just because you're on a low dose.

There are a lot of alternatives you can take for weight loss! For some reason that's the one side effect I didn't get from the Topamax (lucky me) so I started on appetite suppresants and B-12/hcg injections. I lost over thirty pounds from June to November of last year. I wish you the best.

Hey,I do b12/lipo,I have read some posts on the other website, but I've not signed up either,I hardly have time to check this each day,but I enjoy it and need the motivation.I read a few posts about something new I think it is lipo-den.I did ok over the holidays, but like you,not as good as I could have.Sometimes I just want a hershey bar so bad it hurts.I have to get SERIOUS about exercise.I hope you have a good week.

by kenziesmom, Jan 14, 2007 12:00AM
By any chance, have you been tested for PCOS?  That will make it difficult to lose weight.

by mihapiha, Jan 15, 2007 12:00AM
I just started taking phentermine 2 weeks ago and have lost 8 pounds(132 right now) 5'2". My goal is to get back to 115-110 which is a healthy weight for my height. I am now a 32DD and wear a 5 jeans in juniors. Gosh I feel better than ever about myself and finally getting those last pounds off! This stuff really works.
I purchased my phertermine online at us-pills.com you will use there online doctor not a local and you don't have to provide your doctors name either for contact. Your BMI just has to be 25 or over. My BMI was 25 and I got mine no problem.Just answer the questions and if they have problems filling they will contact you.

What is PCOS?

Also, for the post above that claims weight gain is always from eating too much.  You really need to educate yourself b/c I have followed and logged every bite I've taken for months, and I'm an avid athlete.  I have also been in a spot where I gained and/or stayed the same.  It is not always over indulging.  Please be kinder.

Thanks kk2. I am concerned about taking topomax (topamax) as well but at this point I am willing to try anything. I went to my doctor for nutritional and phycological help to lose weight and she put me on this. She wants to begin Phentermine and montitor my heart monthly. I am supposed to see her tomorrow to get the prescription but I am going to ask about the B12 injections also. I have had no bad side effects from topomax (topamax) except for bad taste and numb feet. definitley no slurred speech! that's scary. I am definitly in a better mood and don't find myself shoving food in my mouth every waking moment.

First I wanted to say thank you for evceryone's advice it really helps.  To Solo NO I'm not eating more, actually a lot less and healthier. I'm more active and eating less that's why it is aggrivating to not lose. I didn't get into it but I also have a history of female problems that will cause me to have a hysterictomy but my dr is trying to help me get pregnant first.

No I'm not on any meds just my prenatal vitamins. I'm walking on the treadmill 4 times a week and trying to work my way up. I have a 2 year old so I try and dance with her everynight for about 20 minutes. It's hard to do a lot b/c of my medical condition it makes me really tired and hurt but I try to do as much as possible.

by karibritt01, Jan 18, 2007 12:00AM
Solo - no offense intended... but how rude!  She doesn't want to be specific about her problems, or she wouldn't have been vague to begin with.

Hannah's Mom - I know how hard it can be, and how frustrating.  I lost weight very easily the first time with diet and exercise.  80 pounds in 10 months.  I gained back 55ish pounds with a hard second pregnancy, and another 30 when my daughter was small.  She had many health issues (RSV, asthma, 17 ear infections by 10 months, etc) and survived many days on Coke just for the energy to function.  I thought I could get the weight back off, just as I did before.  WRONG!!  I worked out 4 or 5 times a week for an hour, cut out soda and junk food, watched what and how I cooked, measured portions, etc.  I talked to my Dr, and was told to "eat less and exercise."  I finally went to a weight loss clinic to lose the weight.  I did phentermine and HcG, and the weight melted off - 50 pounds in 4+ months.

While TTC, I do not reccommend using any weight loss meds - its just not worth the risk.  I would consider asking your Dr about Glucophage or HcG injections, though.  Glucophage is a diebetic med used to regulate blood sugar.  My friend with PCOS was given it by her Dr to regulate her ovulation.  If one of those is your problem, it may be beneficial.  I will say that 1 side effect can be weight GAIN, but may be worth checking about anyway.  (You won't mind the weight gain if you concieve!)  HcG is a pregnancy hormone that pulls body fat to feed the baby in the first trimester.  Many people are using it with a low calorie diet to lose weight.  HcG is also the next step when ttc, so it wouldn't be harmful to the baby if you did get pregnant.  Other than that, make sure you are getting enough calories in a day, or weight loss will stop.

As for your unexplained weight gain... most is probably due to stress and hormones.  When you are stressed, your cortisol levels rise, and cause you to store fat.  I can think of nothing more stressful than miscarriage and trouble concieving.  Add to that weight gain, and you have a lot going against you.  Also, after your miscarriage, it can take 6 weeks or more for your hormones to drop again.  In that time, your body is telling you to add extra calories, but the baby isn't using them, which can cause weight gain.

Hope this helps!  Good luck... with the weight and the baby!

h'mom,
you want to lose weight but have some other problems. I have something which has no side effects and no cost. This breathing exercise will help your body fight the health problems and reduce weight as well. Do the pranayam for a few minutes initially and then increase slowly to the suggested time. You and your body will start noticing the benefits in days. This is all difficult to believe, but only by trying to will find out.
The Yoga Pranayam (breathing exercises) are:

Bhastrika - Take a long deep breath into the lungs(chest not tummy) via the nose and then completely breathe out through the nose.Duration upto 5 minutes.

Kapalbhati -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for maximum of 30 minutes. Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently.

Anulom Vilom - Deep Breath-in through left nostril keeping right nostril closed
then - Breath-out through right nostril keeping left nostril closed
then -Deep Breath-in through right nostril keeping left nostril closed
then - Breath-out through left nostril keeping right nostril closed
and repeat this cycle for 30 minutes maximum.

Tips : Breathe into lungs not into stomach. Do not hurry. Do it slowly. Rest whenever needed (in any pranayam). Can be done in sitting position, standing or lying in bed(if bed-bound).Keep tissues handy, as a lot of mucous from lungs will be coming through the nose.
Pranayam can be done even if you are on medication.Mention this to your doctor on next visit.
Your determination to help your body will bring healthy rewards.

best regards
hava

Thank your for more advice and I will try the breathing also. I also bought the cocnut oil as well.

Solo..I have to have a hyster. because I have had 5 surgeries for cyst, endometrosis and scar tissue. I have constant pain but not always bad just annoying. There is more things wrong it would just take forever to go in to it. So we are hoping to get pregant ASAP before I HAVE to have my surgery because it's not an option but a must. I've heard women gain wait after this surgery so I want to lose before I get pregnat or have my surgery. I have gotten some great advice so I'll try it all and see what works better fo rme. Thanks to you all!

You're advice is good most of the time.  However, not everyone responds to the same things.  I know how to eat, drink, and exercise to lose weight.  My thyroid is extremely low, but not quite enough to need synthroid.  It takes much more effort on my part to lose weight than most people.  I mentioned things that have worked for me, and made some suggestions she could use that would not be harmful should she get pregnant.  I'm sorry to have offended you, but you were obnoxious and I called you on it.

I haven't posted in this form but just wanted to let you know that a hyster DOES NOT mean you'll gain weight or not be able to loose weight after.  Most weight gain is a "side effect" of treatment before/after the hyster its self....main one being hormone related.  I personally have lost 80lbs since my hyster.

Thank you that is sooo good to hear. I have had a few people tell me they lost and I'm hoping that is my case to since i think my weight gain is hormonal!!!
