My daughter and I need to have the lap band surgery. She is 16 & I am 38. Of course our insurance don't cover. If you have extra money please donate to us.god would bless you.
I am 28 years old, I weigh 297 lbs. I work for a temp agent and do not have insurance. I tried everything to lose the weight and nothing worked. I lost weight doing curves and gained everything back. I am looking for ways to fund my lap band surgery.
I have tried and tried every diet out there and unable to lose and keep off the wt. I am 5.1 186 lbs. I have had bc/bs insurance for many years but need to gain MORE wt. in order for them to pay for surgery (lap band). Is there any way around this???? I am willing to go out of state if necessary (i live in N.M.) I have summers off since I work for the school disctrict. PLEASE I am begging someone to help me. I am soooooo very tired of being overweight. I am 52 years of age and would like to be thinner and more mobile in my later years. If anyone is able to scholarship or write it off or figure out how to get insurance to pay??? please contact me. ***@**** thank you. Lisa
I have read all your comments and I think we need to think outside the box. We all need surgery and none of us can afford it. I have not had insurance for many years, I am going to be 54 next week. I have been fat all my life, since I was 4 or 5 years old. I want to be thin just once before I die. If enough of us got together we could fund each others surgeries. I don't know how to do it, but there must be a lot of us across the country who need this for the same reason we do. If anyone knows how to set something like this up, a website for something, like the guys who pay for girls breast jobs. I would donate to someone who wanted a lap band.
I have been diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome. Which has many health effects. Weight gain, diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, endometrial cancer and sadly infertility. I have done much research and the treatments given seemed to have not had much effect on people with this disease. I feel that it is a waist of my time being that I have had this disease quite sometime. I have been on a yo yo diet all my life. I am proud to say I am able to lose weight. Though I cant keep it off because weight gain is a effect of pcos. I am now at 290 pounds. This is my heaviest yet. Like I said, I have done the research Pcos would qualify me as medically necessary. I do have what they say a one in like a million baby girl who is nine years old. I gave birth to her in 1999. The surgery has a huge chance of reversing Pcos and may be able to have another baby.I am 28 years old and very disappointed with my insurance. Florida blue cross blueshield will not cover bariatric surgery. Why will blue cross blue shield cover in other states? Don't understand , can anyone tell me why?

I'm looking for an Angel, someone with a good heart to please help me

Hi i just wanted to let you know that the University Of florida hospital in Gainesville Fl does accept medicaid for the lap band procedure,i called and confirmed this myself just today since i need the surgery too however they arent scheduling surgeries until Sept so that gives you enough time to get in the classes and get them completed
For all who are interested in lap band surgery:
I know it sounds like just another fad diet to try, but please research the hcg diet protocol. It is a doctor prescribed hormone taken as injections, 6 days a week in conjunction with a very low calorie diet. It is way cheaper and safer than surgery! There are few side effects such as headaches and constipation, but these tend to go away as you progress with the diet. You can find info on my husband's website gotnd(dot)com or many other places on the internet - including on MedHelp.
Prices range from just $12 (i heard about this price, but haven't seen it for myself) to over $5000. Husband charges $555 for a complete 5 week course in which you can lose on average 23-30 pounds. This takes longer to lose large amounts of weight than surgery, but it is easier on your body. Yet it is just a temporary medical intervention that when you are through, you can eat normal amounts of calories and don't have to keep on the injections.
