On November 7, 2005 I had a total abdominal colectomyLarge bowel resection. I immediately lost ten pounds, however in the following weeks I have gained 14 pounds. Everything I ingest (I'm on a restricted low residue diet) comes out. I am totally distressed over this unexplained gain when I am trying to lose. I have gastroparesisGastroparesis which limits my diet intake too. Everything I've researched talks about the weight loss after a colectomyLarge bowel resection and I am so confused as to why I would gain. Is this abnormal or an average response? I am at a loss and I know that I am not ingesting more than 1200 calories a day and that's only when I'm having a pain free day. When my stomach hurts, I stick to a liquidLiquid barosperse Liquid calcium with vitamin d Liquid co-q10 Liquid e-z paque Liquid pedvaxhib Liquid polibar Liquid pred diet (eg Slimfast or another diet shake).
Any advice or any suggestions would be so welcomed.
