topomax and hair loss

OK its been a while since anyone has posted on here about topomax (topamax), but I'm hoping someone is still out there who has or is taking it and dealt with the hair loss issue. I've been on it since April (for seizures, NOT weight loss) and the problem wasn't that bad till lately but now I'm getting concerned. My hair that was once very thick is getting quite thin and I don't want to see it go any thinner! Someone once suggested a product they use to condition and maybe even thicken their hair to counteract the effects of the drug - does anyone know what it might be?? I'd really rather not switch meds and risk having more seizures! But I don't wanna be bald either! Thanks for your help!!

Thank you SO much!! That sounds familiar, I think it may be the one I heard mentioned before. What does that mean, giving me your ID#? I would save money with it or you would get a commission or something?

I joined to save the 35%. I don't order unless I need something and generally it adds up when I do so the 35% savings helps.  I gave you my ID number so you can go and get the product if after you read about it and if you want it. You don't have to join you can just order it at retail.. If you are interested in joining and buying other products then you would have to go another route.  You would have to get a consultant number like me.  But, if you just need one product then joining may not be of interest to you.

What mg. are you on a day? I take 200mg a day 100in a.m. /100p.m. for migraines.Around seven months of use my hair started to fall out bad ,and it still is the dr.said to try more protein.I take 5000mcg of biotin a day for the hair loss.I'v stayed on this med because it has helped me alote ,but the hair loss is very scary ,my hair is very thin now. I HAVE BEE ON TOPAMAX SINCE NOV.06 AND HAVENT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH HAIR LOSS AT ALL BUT I HAVE LOST 17LBS SO FAR, BUT I DO HAVE SOME MINOR SIDE EFFECTS FROM IT BUT NOTHING MAJOR. I TAKE LEXAPRO 10 MGS ONCE A DAY AND THE TOPAMAX IS 100 MG A DAY 50 IN THE MORNING AND 50 AT NIGHT.

Nioxin can be bought at your salon and it is great for hair loss. My mom is on steroids and was losing her hair bad. She uses all the nioxin line and her hair looks great!

I just started topamax for binge eating...been on it for a few days...almost a week.  So far, no problems, no side effects that I can tell as of yet.  However, I do feel my weight going down already, with no effort.

what is the cure for my hair loss....please someone tell me....i have been off topamax for 4 months for my migraines. I was taking up to 400mg per day. I was on the drug for 4yrs. I went to 3 different hair specialist over this period of 4yrs and had holes drilled in my head and they would say it was stress, I had no stress other then hair loss. My hair has always looked like a breck girl commercial with hair down to my belt, thick, shiny it was my signature.. Then I realized about 2 plus years ago my hair is a mess, dry, very thin, barely exists below my shoulders. I am so in need of answers, I've went to a health food store today and the vitamin specialist is in unchartered territory also, I take these vitamins: biotin, prenatal, omega, b-complex, etc.. I also wash my hair with a shampoo that will take out medications in your hair.... I NEED HELP WITH MY CONT. HAIR LOSS... IT HAS NOT STOPPED SINCE I STOPPED THE DRUG.... PLEASE HELP AND LET ME KNOW IF ANYONE HAS THE CURE....

I started taking topamax about 8 years ago for bipolar disorder. It helped me alot. Over the years increased my dose. I got to 400mg a day and that is when the trouble started. My thick hair started falling out in clumps. I was terrified of taking a shower because I clogged the drain every time! Im a nurse and I was embarressed to go to work. I am down to 100 mg a day. The hair loss is better. I would discourage anyone to go on this drug until they research themselves.

I have been on Topamax for about 4 months now! My hair was originally thin but, not as near as thin as it now, after a month of taking this I noticed it was taking it's toll on my hair! I have no clue of what to do about this! I only had ONE seizure & the doc threw me on the medication as soon as she heard. 250 MG a day. 100mg am 150pm. I know I'm not a doctor but, ONE seizure! COME ON! That coule be caused frome ANYTHING being wrong! she repeatively says the hair loss could ONLY be stress related but I on the other hand beg the differ as I continue to research more & more people seem to have the same problem as me!!! please help!!!
