unexplained weight gain

by carenej77, May 04, 2008 06:48PM
For years my weight has fluctuated. I am at another "high" again. The strange thing is, I seem to have gained weight after adding more exercise into my daily routine. and no, its NOT muscle!  I have a USANA shake for breakfast, a USANA bar snack, and either another USANA shake or a bowl of soup, or salad or another balanced meal for lunch. A healthy snack next and then a balanced dinner. I eat a ton of veggies and salads, lean meats and if i snack on "****" its only on weekends. I have cut back on alcohol and i am just at a loss. I am now depressed, and would rather stay at home out of sight than let people see me. I hate my body. I feel trapped in a body that is not mine. I dont see the point in busting my *** anymore to lose weight if i am going to GAIN!!! what is wrong with me!!!! i am scraming inside. help

Hey. I completely understand trying to lose but gaining instead. Been there. If you've looked at this site any at all you've seen stuff about hcg. I won't go into detail about in case you are not interested in such but I have lost 15 lbs in 2 1/2 weeks with no excercise. The ONLY thing that has worked for me since I had a baby and I'll swear by it as long as I live. Just know that there is hope and don't get so down. Let me know if you want to know more.

Hi, I was in the same boat... Was 240 pounds at 6'6", lost weight down to 223... hit plateau...Found a solution and got down to 197 in 3 months... Try this: Eat ONE colorful meal per day and replace TWO of your regular meals with replacement shakes or smoothies. Healthy, low-fat-high-fiber snacks in between will help with urges. You can regulate and maintain your weight with this system. Other people are using this easy system and some have kept the weight off for 20 years (or 7 years, or whatever).

You might try tracking your calories online such as sparkpeople.com or mydailyplate.com it could be the supplememts you are taking and food you are consuming are putting you up on the calorie charts. Also, you may be consuming alot of sugar in the supplements that could be causing sugar spikes and insulin resitence, either web site will show you what you are taking in, like percentage of fat, sugars, protein, carbs, etc.
I have tried everything and could not lose, was working out 5-7 days a week, watching what I ate, for over 2 months and nothing,,,I gave up exercising and when I did, within 3 weeks was down 15 pounds. Now I beleive what happened is I was eating too few calories (900-1200) per day, and my activity level normally, plus the exercise was causing a deficit, resulting in my body holding on to the fat.
I have for now, stopped exercising, eating 800-1000 calories a day and am losing 3 pounds a week steadily. When I get down a bit more, I will start the exercise again, but increase my calories to accomadate the activity.
I also started taking a lipotropics supplement which has caused a major loss of inches within days.

I feel for you.  I had a baby 9 months ago and can't loose this weight.  I bough wii fit and the thing says I'm obese.  I exercise and eat pretty healthy.  I can't figure it out.

well it turns out i have hypothyroidism. i just want to lose the weight i gained (apparently) because of it. i have lost a lot of my desire to exercise because of all the hard work i put in to it with no results. what is the point. maybe i am just destined to be a fat cow the rest of my life. i hate my body.

Dont give up.  I am hypothyriod as well.  I am frustrated too.  But dont give up.  I exersize almost every day, and just yesterday, I gain 1 1/2 lbs - and I only ate 800 calories.  But I know I will lose it.
Take Selenium, cocunut oil, and switch your diets all the time, it helps me NOT GAIN.  I really dont know how to lose the weight, but if I figure it out, I will email you.
I am going to try the HCG - since nothing else has worked.
Medifast did work for a while, but with its high Soy content, it kills the thyriod meds, so be really careful, it could be a frustrating experience.
Being negative definately stops you from losing weight and serves no purpose.  I seem to lose weight better when I walk outside in the sun.
