The BMI scale: Good or Bad

Do you find the BMI scale a good or bad thing. I for one think it is useless. It takes no account for muscle mass, one of the the key metabolic drivers for losing body fat. Weight means nothing, it is only the overall body fat % that matters.

BMI doesn't take into account the different body frames.  I am 5'2 133 lbs with a large frame and people think I weigh less than I do because my frame makes me look smaller weight wise then I am.  My little sister is 5'2 with a small frame and weighs the same as me but people think she weighs more because the weight is distributed differently.  Physically we are both in our normal range according to BMI but our doctors only say that I am considered a healthy size.  I also just had a baby in May and since have been building muscle.  My body is more muscle and less fat while my sisters is the complete opposite.  I found a scale that does it based on body frame so that may be of some assistance to you (it also makes you feel a bit better although it isn't widely recommended anymore).  To check your body frame you do this: SMALL FRAME~your fingers by pass each other when you put them around your wrist MEDIUM FRAME~your fingers touch but don't pass each other LARGE FRAME~your fingers do not touch.  This BMI on this website is you a wider range of weight possibility.  The website is: http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm
