The only modern references I could find to the term were related to uterine prolapse. It has to do with having sores on the uterus. A lot of references I saw were in older medical journals, so there might be a more modern (or specific) term for what the person has, such as granulitic or related to placental abruption, or things like that. You need more information from the doctor to get an idea of what it going on. An ulcer is just a word for some kind of sore.
